During the hot days, on the green hillsides covered with acacia and eucalyptus trees in Dai Phuc commune, officers from Forest Ranger Station No. 12 regularly go down to the field, staying on-site to disseminate information and guide people in implementing measures to protect forests and prevent and fight forest fires.
At village meetings, community gatherings, or even on the hillsides, the following messages are always emphasized: Do not use fire in or near forests; clear undergrowth according to proper procedures; create firebreaks before burning undergrowth; proactively detect and report forest fire risks promptly.
Ms. Luong Thi Vui, Head of An Long Hamlet, Dai Phuc Commune, said that during the hot season, households regularly receive notifications from the Forest Protection force and local authorities about forest fire forecasts. Families with production forest areas are reminded to raise awareness, absolutely not bring sources of fire into the forest, and strictly comply with regulations on forest fire prevention and control.
Mr. Nguyen Huy Dong, from An Long hamlet, Dai Phuc commune, shared: "Every year, my family organizes clearing of undergrowth and forest sanitation. For areas prepared for logging, post-logging treatment is always carried out in accordance with regulations, ensuring a safe distance to prevent fires from spreading to neighboring areas."
Thai Nguyen is one of the localities with a large forest area in the Northern Midlands and Mountains region, with over 550,000 hectares of forest and a forest cover rate exceeding 61%. Not only does it provide livelihoods for tens of thousands of households, but the forest also plays a crucial role in protecting the ecological environment, regulating water resources, and mitigating the impact of natural disasters. Therefore, forest fire prevention and control is always identified as a key task in forest management and protection.
From the beginning of the year, Forest Ranger Station No. 12 has strengthened the Steering Committee for Forest Fire Prevention and Control, developed forest fire prevention and control plans in 10 forested communes; issued more than 50 directive documents and organized 4 direct awareness campaigns for over 140 people.
In addition, the Forest Protection Force regularly updates forest fire forecast information and notifies each locality and forest owner to proactively implement preventive measures. During peak hot weather days, Forest Protection officers increase patrols and on-site inspections, especially in areas with a high risk of fire.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Cong, an officer of Forest Ranger Station No. 12, said that Dai Phuc commune alone, after the merger, has a natural area of over 10,000 hectares, of which forest area accounts for a large proportion. This is an area with a high risk of forest fires, so the unit regularly advises the local authorities to issue guiding documents, while also stepping up propaganda to each household and forest owner.
Forest Ranger Station No. 12 has signed a coordination agreement with local police and military forces, as well as major forest management units such as Thai Nguyen Forestry Company, Dai Tu Forestry Company Limited, and Tam Dao National Park, to strengthen patrols and inspections and be ready to respond to forest fires. Thanks to the synchronized implementation of these solutions, no forest fires have occurred in the area under the management of Forest Ranger Station No. 12 since the beginning of the year.
Mr. Vu The Cuong, Head of Forest Ranger Station No. 12, believes that to improve the effectiveness of forest fire prevention and control, it is crucial to develop plans that closely reflect the reality of each area, assign specific tasks to each force, and regularly organize training in forest fire prevention and control skills. When a situation arises, it is essential to ensure early detection, rapid response, and absolute safety for the participating firefighting forces.
Preserving the greenness of the forests is not only the responsibility of the Forest Protection Department but also a shared responsibility of the entire society. When awareness of forest protection is raised, and when the government, functional forces, and people work together, the forests will continue to be safely protected, contributing to the sustainable development of the forestry economy , protecting the ecological environment, and preserving valuable resources for future generations.
