"Currently, there are businesses ready to invest in building chip manufacturing plants in Bac Lieu , but the province needs to ensure sufficient human resources," the Chairman of Bac Lieu province informed at a career guidance and recruitment counseling program on the morning of March 16.

The college admissions and career guidance program held on the morning of March 16th in Bac Lieu welcomed a special guest: Mr. Pham Van Thieu, Chairman of the People's Committee of Bac Lieu province. He personally delivered a message to the thousands of Bac Lieu students participating in the program.
We need people to develop high-tech agriculture and renewable energy.
Chairman Pham Van Thieu said: Bac Lieu is located in the southernmost part of the country, on the Ca Mau peninsula, where three distinct ecological zones converge: saltwater, brackish, and freshwater.
With these strengths, Bac Lieu has been developing strongly in agriculture, with the fisheries sector accounting for a large proportion. Currently, agriculture accounts for approximately 42% of the province's economic structure.
Over the years, Bac Lieu has consistently focused on developing its fisheries sector, especially shrimp farming, and proudly boasts the title of "shrimp capital" of the country. In 2024 alone, the province's shrimp export value reached US$1.18 billion.

"Bac Lieu is also focusing on developing high-tech agriculture, with models of shrimp farming and clean rice cultivation in a sustainable, environmentally friendly manner, aiming towards a green economy and a circular economy. The province urgently needs human resources to develop these fields," Mr. Thieu emphasized.
Beyond agriculture, Mr. Thieu believes Bac Lieu is also effectively exploiting its potential in renewable energy. The Bac Lieu wind power plant is the first coastal wind power plant in Vietnam. In recent years, Bac Lieu has implemented 8 wind power projects, with a capacity of nearly 500MW.
In the near future, Bac Lieu will begin construction on a large-scale, $4 billion gas-fired power plant, requiring a high demand for skilled technical and labor-intensive workers. During the construction phase alone, more than 2,000 workers will be needed daily. This is the largest 100% foreign direct investment (FDI) project in the Mekong Delta region to date.
"The province will need a lot of manpower working in the technical field, especially related to energy and renewable energy," Mr. Thieu advised.

Regarding information technology, Mr. Thieu said that Bac Lieu is promoting the development of digital technology, digital industry, and digital government, aiming to serve people and businesses on online platforms and gradually reduce direct administrative procedures at state agencies.
In addition, the province has attracted many high-tech projects, notably those related to artificial intelligence (AI) and semiconductor manufacturing.
"Currently, there are businesses ready to invest in building chip manufacturing plants in Bac Lieu, however, the key issue they raise is that the province needs to provide sufficient human resources," Mr. Thieu said.
The province is promoting the construction of a new industrial park with a scale of 500 hectares, creating momentum to attract investment, develop industry and services, and create jobs for local workers.
In the near future, with the completion of the expressway connecting Bac Lieu with Can Tho and Ho Chi Minh City, and the coastal road, Bac Lieu will have many new opportunities for stronger development. This will again create an urgent need for high-quality human resources, especially in professions where businesses are in high demand.
"I hope that students will clearly define their career orientation, choose professions that are in line with the trends and actual needs of the province, so that when they graduate they can easily find jobs, provide for themselves and their families, and contribute to the development of Bac Lieu and the country," Mr. Thieu said.
Personally, I highly appreciate the sense of responsibility and aspiration of the Youth Union in caring for the development of the younger generation, not only in Bac Lieu but also throughout the country.

Choose a major based on technology trends.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, journalist Tran Xuan Toan, deputy editor-in-chief of Tuoi Tre newspaper, shared how trends in digital transformation, automation, artificial intelligence, semiconductor technology, and renewable energy are shaping the future of many industries.
Therefore, students need to carefully consider choosing a major and a school that aligns with this development trend.
In particular, for rapidly developing localities like Bac Lieu, investing in high-quality human resources in the fields of technology and engineering will be key to seizing opportunities and contributing to the province's transformation in the coming period.
