Since then, "healing" has become a new and very popular trend in Vietnam. "Healing" centers have sprung up everywhere, and everyone is seeking "healing," yet many people still seem unclear about the concept.
The Bible contains numerous accounts of Jesus healing (or curing) people. In religion, healing originally means using supernatural power to cure diseases. Additionally, it is believed that "healing" refers to the exorcism rituals performed by witches to treat the sick, such as the exorcism ceremonies in Sri Lanka ( Network of Awakening by Noriyuki Ueda, 1990).
In Vietnam, the word "healing" appeared around the 19th century, meaning to cure a disease: "GUÉRISSABLE, adj . ( Disease ) treatable, curable" - J.M.M. Génibrel's Vocabulaire annamite-français (1898), p. 176. Currently, the term "healing" is almost equivalent to the word "treatment" (療癒) in Chinese; "Iyashi" (癒やし) in Japanese; and "chiyu" ( 치유 ) in Korean - written in Hanja as "treatment" (治癒).
The term "healing" corresponds to the English words "heal" and "healing ." Etymologically, the verb "heal" comes from the Old English word *hælan *, meaning "to cure; to treat; to make completely healthy"; *hælan* originates from the original German * hailjan *. The word "healing " means "the act of healing, the restoration of health," a word signifying "complete restoration" (from the early 13th century) and "to touch to heal" (from the 1670s).
According to the Cambridge Dictionary, healing is the process of complete recovery or improvement after injury or emotional distress. Socrates once said, "Do not try to heal the eye without healing the head, do not try to heal the head without healing the body, and do not try to heal the body without healing the soul." This statement corresponds to the three elements of healing: emotional healing , soul healing , and physical healing .
There are many ways to heal. For the soul and emotions, treatment includes psychiatric and psychological methods, meditation, yoga, prayer, artistic and creative activities, mindfulness, focusing on the present moment, reflecting deeply on the true values of life, etc.; for the physical body, it involves lifestyle adjustments, balanced nutrition, adequate rest, post-injury physiotherapy, and medical care.
In Japan, in recent years, people, objects, or poems that possess healing qualities or characteristics are referred to as yashi-kei (癒し系) or yu yashi kei (癒やし系). Female artists with a "warm," "gentle," and "soft" aura that soothes viewers; comedians, male politicians , and scholars are also considered "healing types"...
In general, healing is about eliminating negative emotions, mental and physical wounds. The treatment varies from person to person, and the term should not be misused indiscriminately, such as "healing at a bar," "healing at a hair wash," "healing from jealousy," or keywords that have appeared on Google Trends (VN) in the past 7 days (since May 2nd, 2024) like: "going for healing with a lover," "three mother and daughters healing in the bathroom," "going for healing and getting caught by wife"...
Finally, be cautious about healing services advertised online.
