From the breath of life
The series of articles "Connecting Party Will and People's Hearts in the Two-Tiered Local Government Model" was written by journalists Ngoc Man and Huynh Huong during a period of historical "transformation" of the nation. While everything was new and challenging, they chose to visit each locality, listening from the grassroots to offer readers a bright perspective and an affirmation of the appropriate and correct policy that the entire political system was wholeheartedly implementing.
This is a challenging topic, as the field of Party building is often theoretical, considered "dry" and "difficult." The two researchers chose a different approach to "soften" the topic, which is to look at it from the grassroots level and thereby highlight social consensus and the role of organizations in implementing policies in practice.

Sharing about the inspiration behind choosing the topic, NB Ngoc Man said: “We chose the topic "Connecting Party will and people's hearts in the two-tiered local government model" because this is a major policy of the Party and State during the period of reform, reorganizing the administrative apparatus towards a streamlined, effective, and efficient structure. When the two-tiered local government model was implemented, what I was concerned about was not only the organizational changes but also how to bring that policy into life and gain the consensus of the people.”
During her work, what she noticed most clearly was the special bridging role of the Vietnam Fatherland Front . And that is why she decided to delve deeper into this topic to develop a series of articles. “The Vietnam Fatherland Front plays a very important role in connecting the Party, the government, and the people; listening to and reflecting the thoughts and aspirations of the people, while creating social consensus so that major policies can be implemented effectively,” journalist Ngoc Man affirmed.
With that mindset, their journalistic journey didn't stop at documenting achievements, but also involved seeking out authentic stories from the grassroots. Through this, their work not only conveyed policies and guidelines but also helped readers better understand the close relationship between the Party and the people. To complete the series, the two female journalists had to travel to many localities in the province, including remote villages, to gather information from the grassroots. The hundreds of kilometers they traveled each day did not deter them from pursuing their beloved work.
NB Huynh Huong shared that the initial desire of the two sisters was to vividly reflect the process of putting the Party's policies into practice, clarifying the role of the Fatherland Front in strengthening national unity, and contributing to building a government that is close to the people and for the people.
At the same time, the series also conveys the message that all policies and initiatives are only truly successful when there is consensus among the people, when the Party's will meets the people's hearts. Therefore, recording the opinions of the people is indispensable. "One day, the two of us rode our motorbike to the Dong Thap Muoi region; the road was long and somewhat difficult, so we had to leave quite early," journalist Huynh Huong recounted.
And the efforts of the two female journalists have been recognized with the National Journalism Award. This is not only a joy for the two authors but also a testament to the value of works built from real-life experiences and a love for the profession!
Behind the award
Journalism has never been an easy job, and for female journalists, the difficulties are doubled by the roles of wife, mother, and homemaker—the most sacred and noble responsibilities! Ngoc Man and Huynh Huong are both women who simultaneously fulfill multiple roles. They are journalists, wives, and mothers of two children. Each day is a journey of balancing work and family life for them.

Journalism doesn't have a fixed office hour. Field trips can sometimes last from early morning until late at night. Unexpected events, unscheduled interviews, and late nights or early mornings to finish articles are commonplace for those in the profession. For female journalists, these pressures are even greater when they also have the responsibility of caring for their families, raising children, and nurturing their homes.
"There were times when I left before my child woke up and returned home when it was already pitch dark. Afraid my child would miss me, every morning, no matter how far away I was on business trips, I always made time to prepare breakfast for her, and at lunchtime I would video call her to ease her longing," said Huynh Huong.
After long business trips, these women return to their roles as mothers: picking up and dropping off their children at school, studying with them every evening, and reading to them before bedtime. Once the children are fast asleep, that's when these female journalists return to their roles as reporters: organizing and processing the information they've gathered into articles.
Journalist Ngoc Man said: "I know that being a journalist is hard work, but I love it very much. Every new journey, every new character, gives me many lessons. So no matter what happens, I think we will choose to love our profession and live with it!"
For artist Huynh Huong, despite the difficulties of her work, her greatest joy is that her artwork creates a positive impact, reflecting the thoughts and aspirations of the people and contributing to the development of the locality.
In this era of rapid information development, to achieve their goals, journalists must constantly innovate and learn. Each product created no longer serves only one type of journalism as before, but is increasingly becoming "multipurpose" to meet the demands of readers. Not lagging behind, these journalists learn daily to be able to produce content across multiple media formats, from television and print to online, to meet the demands of their work.
For the two female presenters, Ngoc Man and Huynh Huong, their love for their profession isn't expressed through grandiose words, but through their unwavering perseverance every day.
