Art program "60 years"

To celebrate the 60th anniversary of Ham Rong victory (April 3, 4, 1965 - April 3, 4, 2025), on the evening of April 2, at Ham Rong Square, the City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Fatherland Front Committee of Thanh Hoa City organized an art program with the theme "60 years - The heroic epic of Ham Rong". The program was broadcast live on Thanh Hoa Provincial Radio and Television.

Comrade Lai The Nguyen, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation and delegates attended the art program.

Attending the ceremony were comrades: Lai The Nguyen, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation; members of the Provincial Party Standing Committee: Dao Xuan Yen, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission; Major General Tran Phu Ha, Director of the Provincial Police; Le Anh Xuan, Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Thanh Hoa City People's Council; members of the Provincial Party Committee: Nguyen Quang Hai, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Dau Thanh Tung, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Le Duc Giang, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; representatives of leaders of provincial departments, agencies, leaders of Thanh Hoa City, leaders of wards and communes, historical witnesses who participated in the fight and served in the fight at Ham Rong, and a large number of people.

Comrade Nguyen Viet Hung, Vice Chairman of Thanh Hoa City People's Committee delivered the opening speech of the art program.

Speaking at the opening of the art program, comrade Nguyen Viet Hung, Vice Chairman of Thanh Hoa City People's Committee, reviewed the glorious history of our army and people in the fight to protect Ham Rong Bridge: Having been defeated in the Southern battlefield, in late 1964 and early 1965, the US imperialists planned to bomb the North to cut off the vital North-South traffic route and weaken the role of the large Northern rear base for the Southern front line. Ham Rong Bridge was located in a prime location, so the US Air Force considered Ham Rong Bridge an "ideal choke point", a "priority" target and came up with many brutal tactics for the attack.

The performance "The Party is my life" opened the art program.

On April 3 and 4, 1965, the US imperialists mobilized a large number of jet planes and bombs to take turns swooping down and dropping bombs on the small target of Ham Rong Bridge. In just a moment, Ham Rong became a "hotbed" of war. In that fierce battle, every mountain, river, construction site, and factory was a target of fierce bombing by the US Air Force.

To protect Ham Rong bridge, our army arranged the main air defense force in combination with the low-altitude air defense force of Thanh Hoa armed forces to create a multi-layered fire net ready to receive enemy aircraft. Facing the enemy's rain of bombs and bullets, the army and people of Thanh Hoa town and the participating forces clearly demonstrated the spirit of "living on the bridge, on the road - dying bravely and steadfastly", determined to protect Ham Rong bridge at all costs.

With that determination, on April 3 and 4, 1965, our army and people shot down 47 American planes and captured many pilots. The US empire had to bitterly admit, “Those were two dark days for the US Air Force.” As for our army and people, those were two days that set a record for an unprecedented battle to protect a bridge that stirred up American public opinion and earned the admiration of peace-loving friends around the world .

The victory of Ham Rong - Nam Ngan is not only the pride of the Thanh Hoa people and the Vietnamese nation, but also the victory of the people's war, of the indomitable will, steadfast character and Vietnamese intelligence; becoming a shining symbol of revolutionary heroism, adding confidence and will, creating a strong motivation to encourage the army and people of the whole country to advance to defeat the US imperialists and their lackeys, regain independence, freedom and unify the country.

Continuing the glorious tradition of previous generations, in the process of innovation and national construction, with the spirit of hard work and creativity, the Party Committee, the government and the people of the city have united, strived, competed in labor production, promoted industrialization and modernization, and profoundly and comprehensively transformed the urban landscape. From a land plowed by bombs and bullets, with the hands, minds and creative working spirit of many generations, Ham Rong and Thanh Hoa City today have developed increasingly civilized and modern.

With the theme “60 years - The heroic Ham Rong song”, the art program with heroic melodies brings us back to the glorious Ham Rong and Thanh Hoa, Ham Rong is growing stronger day by day.

The special music and dance performances focused on praising the Party, Uncle Ho, love for the homeland and country, praising Ham Rong, the heroic Ma River... performed by lecturers, students of the Faculty of Music, Thanh Hoa University of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Provincial Military Command, the Provincial Border Guard Command, the Provincial Police, the Sen Viet Dance Troupe, the Falames group, and the Color Group.

The opening of the art program was the male and female choir performance “The Party is my life” performed by the Sen Viet Dance Troupe and the dance group of the University of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Next were the performances “Uncle Ho is still marching with us”, “Heroic Thanh Hoa”, “Hello Heroic Ma River”, “Ham Rong Rice Plant”, “Continue writing the story of peace”, “Under the glorious flag”… Closing the art program was the performance “City on the banks of the Ma River - Vast new road” expressing the aspiration to continue writing a new history called “bright future” on a land rich in revolutionary traditions.

A large number of people and tourists attended the program.

The art program is organized to educate the patriotic tradition to the masses, especially the young generation. Thereby, it "spreads the fire" of revolution, fosters pride and gratitude for precious historical values, helps the masses raise awareness and responsibility in preserving and embellishing the glorious historical and revolutionary traditions of Thanh Hoa City in particular, and the heroic land of Thanh Hoa in general.
