Proven effectiveness

At 8/3 Textile Company Limited, the application of advanced technology in production and management has proven effective. Speaking to reporters, Mr. Do Thanh Tung – Deputy General Director of 8/3 Textile Company Limited – said that in the export sector, previously, completing a set of import/export documents typically took 4-5 days. Now, thanks to data digitization, document encoding, and integration of information into QR codes, processing time has been reduced to only 1-2 days, significantly improving labor productivity and decreasing administrative workload.

Furthermore, the application of QR codes in product quality management allows customers to access complete information about raw materials, green certifications, and product quality. All data is stored long-term, supporting businesses in monitoring quality consistency over many years, while significantly saving on printing costs.

In the manufacturing sector, the company has invested in monitoring systems for the yarn spinning machines, winding machines, and air conditioning systems. All data is connected to a central production management software, allowing for 24/7 monitoring of the production line.

As a result, tasks that previously required 4-5 workers to record and compile data now only need 1-2 people. More importantly, data is always updated in real time, helping businesses quickly detect and address anomalies arising in production.

The economic benefits of digital transformation are measurable. From the last six months of 2025 to the first six months of 2026, businesses will reduce their raw material consumption by an average of about 1% each month, equivalent to saving approximately 360 million VND in production costs per month ,” said Mr. Do Thanh Tung.

The Deputy General Director of 8/3 Textile Company also stated that the most important factor determining the success of digital transformation lies in people. “ Machinery and equipment can be purchased with money, but training people and building a corporate culture with a shared awareness and understanding of digital transformation is not simple at all. This is also the decisive factor in the success of the digital transformation process within the enterprise ,” Mr. Do Thanh Tung emphasized.

This is an inevitable trend to meet the demands of fast production and fast delivery.

Digital transformation, with the application of artificial intelligence (AI) and automation in operations, is strongly underway in the textile and garment business community. According to Mr. Cao Huu Hieu, General Director of Vietnam Textile and Garment Group, one of the most obvious benefits of digital transformation is the improvement of management quality. While previously many production and business figures were mainly estimates, now data is updated almost in real time.

The global market is changing rapidly, geopolitical , trade, and consumer factors are constantly fluctuating, and managing based on accurate data helps businesses react faster, mitigate risks, and make more effective decisions, ” said Mr. Cao Huu Hieu.

Digital transformation is becoming increasingly urgent as the global fashion industry enters a new phase of competition. Shorter delivery times, stricter quality requirements, and growing price pressure are all driving the issue.

In an interview with the media, Mr. Vu Duc Giang, Chairman of the Vietnam Textile and Garment Association, stated that in the past three years, Vietnamese textile and garment businesses have rapidly adopted automation, robotics, and AI solutions. " Especially in today's fashion industry, delivery times are shorter, quality requirements are stricter, and price competition is increasingly fierce. Therefore, Industry 4.0 equipment and technology are becoming key factors in helping businesses adapt to the new purchasing methods of global brands ," the leader of the Vietnam Textile and Garment Association remarked.

In fact, many yarn factories today have almost completely automated their processes, from cotton processing and carding to packaging. While a 50,000-spindle yarn factory previously required 200-300 workers, it now only needs about 30-40.

In the garment industry, robots are also beginning to participate in the transportation of semi-finished products between workshops. Even tasks like factory cleaning are gradually being automated.

Notably, the cost of investing in technology has decreased significantly compared to a few years ago. The participation of many global suppliers gives businesses more options to suit their scale and production needs.

The rapid digital transformation of the textile and garment industry, in addition to the self-efforts of businesses, is also thanks to major policies issued promptly by the Party, Government, and Ministry of Industry and Trade, such as: Resolution 57-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in the development of science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation, or Decision No. 2708/QD-BCT promulgating the Program to support and promote smart production and digital transformation in the industrial and commercial sectors until 2035…

Simultaneously, the Vietnam Textile and Garment Association is strengthening connections between businesses and technology solution providers, organizing workshops and field trips to disseminate effective models. The Association is also collaborating with international organizations and training institutions to prepare a workforce with digital and green skills for the new development phase.

It is clear that digital transformation is closely linked to the sustainable development strategy of the textile and garment industry. As new-generation free trade agreements increasingly impose requirements on traceability, data transparency, emission reduction, and supply chain governance, businesses have few options other than investing in technology.

Digital transformation in both production and management helps textile and garment businesses adapt to new development trends in the global textile and garment market, ensuring growth in an increasingly competitive environment.
