This information appeared in the media three days ago, but the Hanoi Police Club only confirmed it today. Therefore, the goalkeeper, who has both Vietnamese and Czech heritage, will become a Vietnamese citizen and be eligible to play for the national team.

Filip Nguyễn began the process of obtaining Vietnamese citizenship (his father's homeland) in 2021 but encountered many difficulties related to paperwork and travel. His return to Vietnam and playing for Hanoi Police FC helped expedite the citizenship process.
Filip Nguyen has repeatedly expressed his desire to play for the Vietnamese national team. He was previously called up to the Czech Republic national team. However, since he hasn't played in any matches, Filip Nguyen is still eligible to switch to another national team if he meets the citizenship requirements and is called up.
Coach Philippe Troussier highly values Filip Nguyen's talent. He once shared: " Filip Nguyen is in the process of applying for Vietnamese citizenship. From what I've observed, his performance is consistent. Filip also has experience playing in Europe. I'm sure this is a quality addition to the national team. Filip Nguyễn has proven his abilities while playing for Hanoi Police FC. At 31 years old, he can still compete at the highest level for a long time to come.
Filip Nguyễn will strengthen the Vietnamese national team's goalkeeping position, which already boasts excellent players like Đặng Văn Lâm and Nguyễn Đình Triệu.
