Manchester United still has endless problems.

Not only did billionaire Jim Ratcliffe buy a 25% stake in Manchester United worth £1.25 billion, but he also spent an additional £245 million to renovate Old Trafford and the Carrington training ground. The 71-year-old British billionaire now holds full control over the club's football operations, overseeing player transfers. He is also set to appoint close associates to the club's management board.

Manager Erik ten Hag is under immense pressure as billionaire Jim Ratcliffe takes over Manchester United.

According to The Sun (UK): "Billionaire Jim Ratcliffe will completely overhaul the Manchester United squad. Many top-valued stars who have underperformed or are no longer part of the club's plans will have to leave. Currently, there are up to seven players who could be sold in the winter transfer window of early 2024 or in the summer, notably Jadon Sancho, Casemiro, Antony, Varane, Harry Maguire, Andre Onana, and Bruno Fernandes. Even the future of manager Erik ten Hag is extremely uncertain."

Manchester United have just gone four consecutive matches without scoring a goal, with three losses and one draw across all competitions. They have been eliminated from the Champions League group stage and have dropped to eighth place in the Premier League with only 28 points after 18 matches.

Manchester United's next match is against Aston Villa (currently ranked 3rd) at Old Trafford at 3 AM on December 27th in Round 19. Only a victory will help MU regain confidence, and billionaire Jim Ratcliffe will reconsider whether manager Erik ten Hag stays or leaves.

Manchester United stars (from left: Sancho, Antony, Casemiro, and Bruno Fernandes) are uncertain about their fate as billionaire Jim Ratcliffe takes over the club.

If Ten Hag is unable to halt the current downward spiral, billionaire Jim Ratcliffe will have to act urgently to rescue Manchester United. The Red Devils must maintain their chances of competing for a top-four spot in the Premier League, paving the way for a major overhaul expected from the summer of 2024. Failure to achieve this goal could render Jim Ratcliffe's 25% stake acquisition a failure from the outset.

Former Manchester United legend Gary Neville analyzed: "The sale of 25% of the club to billionaire Jim Ratcliffe raises more questions than it answers. It's unlikely to bring about a complete transformation, as the Glazer family still controls the majority of Manchester United's shares as they have for a long time. Sometimes, this investment even creates overlapping management, and Manchester United still doesn't have a clear path forward."
