Both mothers kept the newspapers from 1999 and presented them as "proof," which had turned yellow with age, at the wedding.
A Gen Z couple, groom Oizumi Takuto and bride Kato Saya, held their wedding and moved in together after a long period of dating.
A yellowed newspaper was unexpectedly shown at the wedding.
Interestingly, at their wedding, the couple unexpectedly showed off a yellowed newspaper, sparking curiosity among many guests. The couple shared their miraculous love story, revealing that they both appeared in a newspaper 25 years ago – in the "My Baby" section – featuring an adorable baby, around 1-2 years old.
But that's not all; the groom also shared that both his mother and his wife's mother have kept this newspaper since February 22, 1999, because they both believe it's a beautiful and memorable keepsake worth preserving. At this point, the groom's mother also revealed an interesting fact: she was drawn to and felt a strong affection for the little girl next to her son in the newspaper. "The name Kato Saya is very cute. So, I decided to name my second daughter after that," the groom's mother shared.
She also added that the first time the two families introduced each other wasn't their first meeting. The meeting between the two families took place in 2022, three years after the two children appeared together in a newspaper. At that time, the Oizumi Takuto family was on vacation at a hot spring resort in town when they overheard another family calling their daughter Kato Saya.
Because the name was rare at the time, Kato's family inquired and learned that Kato Saya's family was also vacationing at the same location. However, they only met briefly. Mobile phones and social media weren't widespread back then, so communication was difficult.
Their sweet romance has drawn much admiration.
The love story of the young couple continued to be shared at the wedding. Time flew by, and the bond between Oizumi Takuto and Kato Saya was rekindled 15 years later. They met when they were high school seniors, both working part-time at a famous hotel. Upon seeing the name Kato Saya, Oizumi Takuto recognized her as the girl he had been featured in the newspaper with. However, due to work commitments and shyness, he didn't initiate a conversation with Kato Saya.
It wasn't until two years later, when they reunited at their school's graduation ceremony and took a group photo, that Oizumi Takuto finally mustered the courage to invite Kato Saya to dinner. They began exchanging contact information on social media, texting each other, and eventually started dating.
Despite working in different cities, the man still drove to where the woman lived every weekend to take her out on dates. The two are said to share many similar interests and life perspectives. The bride shared: " It's like we were made for each other. As people often say, if you're truly destined to be together, you'll become husband and wife."
Those present at the wedding were also extremely surprised by the couple's love story. One girl even exclaimed, "Is this really possible?"
The groom's mother said tearfully, "It feels like fate and opportunities keep coming together, and finally today you two are husband and wife." The couple's wedding was also held at the hotel where they both worked part-time during high school – the place where they first met as adults.
