Unlike her peers, Lu Seo Muoi was born into a poor family facing particularly difficult circumstances in Sin Lung Chai A village, Lung Khau Nhin commune, Muong Khuong district, Lao Cai province. Even more unfortunately, Muoi and her two sisters became orphans, growing up under the care and love of their paternal grandparents. “My mother passed away when I was in 5th grade. My father died when I was in 9th grade. My grandparents are old and frail, but they are the only support for all three of us,” Lu Seo Muoi shared.
According to Mr. Nguyen Chi Cong, the school's Vice Principal: "Muoi is a very well-behaved and diligent student from an ethnic minority group. Although her family faces particularly difficult circumstances, she does not neglect her studies. In class, she is a diligent and well-behaved student, loved by her classmates, and at home, she is a filial daughter. She is a shining example of perseverance and academic excellence."
Unlike her peers, Mười became the eldest sister in the family, taking on the role of both parents and grandparents in caring for her two younger siblings. Currently, Mười's siblings are in 10th and 8th grade. More importantly, all three sisters are well-behaved, excellent students, and loved by their teachers and classmates.
Regarding her efforts, Mười shared: “Besides class time, I make time to study on my own and review new lessons beforehand; for lessons I don't understand, I ask my teachers for further explanation. Whenever I have time off from school, I help my grandparents with housework, harvest crops, and encourage and guide my two younger siblings in their studies and homework. I always try my best to study well so as not to disappoint my grandparents, parents, and teachers.”
My dream is to become a teacher.
Aware of her family's circumstances, Lu Seo Muoi always strives to achieve the best academic results. Although she lost her mother in the 5th grade and her father four years later, she consistently achieved excellent academic results for many years. This achievement is difficult even for students in the city, let alone Muoi, who is from an ethnic minority group with limited living and learning conditions and lacking the love of her parents. Therefore, the more difficult the situation, the more she is encouraged by her teachers and grandparents, and the harder she tries in her studies. She excels in all subjects and is a shining example of overcoming adversity, inspiring many students in the school.
At school, Mười enthusiastically participates in various activities. She is also very enthusiastic about helping her classmates, striving for better academic results. For any lessons her classmates don't understand, Mười meticulously explains everything to help them grasp the material. When faced with difficult problems, Mười helps them find effective solutions. Therefore, she is well-liked by her classmates.
This year is her final year of high school, so Lu Seo Muoi is even more conscious of her studies. She is determined to study hard to achieve the highest possible results in the national high school graduation exam this coming June. She dreams of becoming a teacher, so that she can return to her hometown of Lung Khau Nhin, Muong Khuong, to teach the children in her village.
Having endured countless hardships, the greatest wish of her grandparents and parents is to see their child grow up to be a successful person. For Lu Seo Muoi, studying is a way to repay the love and expectations of her grandparents and parents, and also for her own future. With such effort and dedication, it is hoped that one day soon her dream of becoming a teacher will come true.
