Accounting is one of the ever-popular fields in the Vietnamese job market, offering numerous job opportunities and attractive salaries right after graduation. With the current integrated market economy, the increasing number of domestic and foreign businesses creates diverse and wide-ranging job opportunities for accountants, making unemployment virtually nonexistent.
After graduation, accounting students can take on various job positions such as: General accountant; Auditor, tax specialist, financial consultant; Audit assistant; Lecturer, research staff at universities, colleges, and research institutes.
According to statistics from Vietnam Communications Corporation (VCcorp), the starting salary for an accountant is approximately 6 million VND, which then increases with time and work experience. For a general accountant position, the salary ranges from 10 to 30 million VND per month.
For positions working with international partners or companies, the starting salary for a Chief Accountant is typically around $1,000 USD/month. If you possess an international certification like ACCA, your income can reach up to $2,000 USD/month for a Senior Accountant position.
From this, we can see that the Accounting field offers students many learning and job opportunities. However, when choosing a profession, candidates should also consider their own interests; without passion, it is very difficult to pursue any profession to the end.
Several schools offer accounting programs.
The National Economics University - in 2024, will recruit students for the Accounting major through three methods: direct admission, admission based on high school graduation exam scores, and a combination of both, according to the university's admission plan. The total expected enrollment for this major is 240.
Last year, using the method of considering high school graduation exam scores, the admission cutoff score for this major was 27.05 points (A00, A01, D01, D07). Tuition fees for the Accounting major in the 2024-2025 academic year range from 16 to 22 million VND per year.
This year, the University of Commerce offers four majors in the field of Accounting: Corporate Accounting, Public Accounting, Integrated Accounting with ICAEW CFAB International Certification, and Auditing. All four majors accept applications based on the following subject combinations: A00, A01, D01, and D07.
The school plans to recruit students through five methods: direct and priority admission, admission based on high school graduation exam results, admission based on academic transcripts, combined admission, and admission based on scores from the Thinking Skills Assessment and Aptitude Assessment exams.
Tuition fees for the standard program range from 2.4 to 2.6 million VND/month; for the international career-oriented intensive training program, it's 3.5 million VND/month; and for the career-oriented program, it's 2.6 million VND/month.
Vinh University - 2024, will recruit students for the Accounting major through 4 methods: direct admission; admission based on high school graduation exam results; admission based on high school academic transcripts; and a combination of entrance exam and admission based on academic records.
Last year, the Accounting major required 19 points based on high school graduation exam scores. The method based on high school academic results required 23 points. Both methods considered four subject combinations: A00, A01, D01, and D07.
The University of Economics and Finance Ho Chi Minh City currently offers two specializations in Accounting: Public Accounting and Business Accounting. In 2024, the university admitted students to this program through three methods: based on high school graduation exam scores, high school academic transcripts, and scores from the National University of Ho Chi Minh City's aptitude test.
The university plans to admit students to the Accounting major based on four subject combinations: A00, A01, D01, and C01. In 2023, the cutoff score for this major was 18 points. In 2022, the university set a higher cutoff score of 19 points.
The University of Banking Ho Chi Minh City - 2024, will admit students to the Accounting major through 4 methods: direct and priority admission, combined admission, admission based on the university's entrance exam scores, and admission based on high school graduation exam scores.
Last year, the cutoff score for this major was relatively high, at 24.87 points across four subject combinations: A00, A01, D01, and D07.
In addition, candidates can refer to the admission information for Accounting majors at other universities such as: Foreign Trade University, Academy of Finance, Hanoi University of Finance and Banking, University of Economics (Hue University), Ho Chi Minh City Open University, and Can Tho University.
