At dawn, while most people are still asleep, the restaurant's kitchen begins its work. About 10 people are busy preparing individual meals to serve those in need, low-income workers, lottery ticket vendors, lonely elderly people, and so on. Although cooking is quite hard work, the members are very happy to be doing charitable work.
They hope to have enough health to continue participating in this humanitarian activity. The dedication and skill of the members have contributed to providing heartwarming meals, allowing them to feel that amidst the hustle and bustle of life, kindness still blossoms.

The free vegetarian meal service operates throughout peak months such as January, July, and October of the lunar calendar, and also maintains regular service on the first and middle days of each lunar month. Funding for the service comes from members' contributions and donations from benevolent individuals. To date, the model has provided over 3,000 free meals to vulnerable individuals in the area and surrounding regions.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hien, representative of the 0-dong vegetarian meal shop, said: “When we started this model, we only hoped to contribute a small part to share with laborers and people in difficult circumstances in the area. Later, we were very happy that the model received the support and companionship of philanthropists, so the number of meals served increased. Each vegetarian meal may not have a large material value, but it represents the affection and kindness of the shop's members and many philanthropists who wish to share with those in need. In the future, we hope to continue receiving the attention and support of organizations and individuals so that the 0-dong vegetarian meal shop can be maintained for a long time, contributing to spreading love in the community.”

Ms. Tran Thi Kim Cuc (residing in Phuoc Vinh Tay commune) shared: “As a self-employed worker with unstable employment, I often come to the restaurant to receive vegetarian meals. I find that the staff are very dedicated, and the vegetarian meals are delicious. For low-income workers like us, this is not only a free meal that helps reduce living expenses but also a great source of encouragement. We feel the care and sharing of the community and gain more motivation to strive for a better life.”

According to Nguyen Thi Le Hoa, Chairwoman of the Tan Tap Commune Red Cross Society, the significance of this activity led to the launch of a "Zero-Cost Vegetarian Meal Restaurant" model in mid-June 2026. This model was chosen by the Society to spread the study and emulation of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, ethics, and style, while effectively implementing social welfare work in the area.
More than just a place serving free meals, the "zero-cost" vegetarian restaurant has become a trusted meeting place for compassionate individuals to share with the community. These simple yet meaningful actions contribute to concretizing the learning and following of President Ho Chi Minh's example through practical deeds, fostering a spirit of mutual support and compassion within the community.
