Kai Rooney has been praised after scoring a superb goal while playing for the Manchester United academy.

Last weekend, Kai's Manchester United U17 team suffered a 1-5 defeat against Real Sociedad U17 in the European youth tournament. Rooney's son scored the only goal for the "Red Devils" youth team. Kai received the ball on the right wing, then accelerated past several Real Sociedad U17 defenders before slotting the ball into the net.

Immediately after the match ended, fans praised Kai's goal. One fan wrote: "This boy is better than what the current Manchester United strikers are showing." Another joked: "I've seen a better Manchester United striker than Rasmus Hojlund."

Many also commented that Kai plays exactly like his father Rooney, with strength and decisiveness in every move. Kai joined the Manchester United academy in December 2020, after training stints at the academies of Manchester City and Bethesda SC Washington.

Kai isn't Rooney's only son pursuing a career in football. A few days ago, the former Manchester United star also traveled to Spain to watch his son Klay play for the Manchester United academy team in a match against UE Quart in Girona.

Rooney is a Manchester United legend and the club's greatest ever goalscorer with 253 goals in 559 games. Red Devils fans expect Kai and Klay to follow in their father's footsteps at Old Trafford in the future.
