After disappointing defeats in continental competitions and the National Cup, Hanoi Police focused their efforts on the V-League and displayed unstoppable form. Since their loss to Hanoi FC on March 8th, the police team has gone undefeated in 8 consecutive matches - including 7 wins.
This devastating form has helped Hanoi Police surge ahead in the standings, leaving second-placed The Cong Viettel 11 points behind after only 22 rounds. This gap means Hanoi Police will secure the championship early if they defeat Dong A Thanh Hoa tonight. In that case, they will be 14 points ahead of The Cong Viettel and will be guaranteed the title with their rivals having only 4 matches remaining.
Conversely, Dong A Thanh Hoa is still in an impressive phase of overcoming difficulties. Despite financial challenges, the team from Thanh Hoa has been undefeated in the last four rounds (two wins, two draws), thus securing a safe position in the standings.
Before this round, Thanh Hoa was 7 points ahead of the relegation zone and almost certainly guaranteed to avoid relegation. This is a well-deserved reward for the efforts of coach Mai Xuan Hop and his players.
Fans also expect Thanh Hoa to maintain their current determination to create a surprise at the Hanoi Police Stadium, thereby keeping the championship race going for at least one more round. Of course, this is very unlikely to happen considering the relative strength and form of the two teams.
