During this operation, the Hue City Police Department, in coordination with the Department of Administrative Management of Social Order, Ministry of Public Security , and a testing unit, organized the collection of DNA samples for 12 relatives of fallen soldiers, including Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and mothers of unidentified fallen soldiers.
This activity holds special significance for the "gratitude and remembrance" work, contributing to alleviating pain and opening up opportunities for families to find the remains of martyrs who sacrificed their lives and blood for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland. Collecting DNA samples for the relatives of martyrs is the first step in preparing and creating opportunities for families to find the remains of their loved ones sooner.
It is known that currently, throughout the country, there are still approximately 500,000 martyrs whose identities have not been determined, including 200,000 remains that have not been collected and 300,000 remains that have been buried but lack information. In Hue City alone, there are over 3,000 martyrs whose identities remain unknown.
In the coming period, police at all levels will continue to coordinate in collecting information and DNA samples to supplement the gene bank of fallen soldiers.
