This afternoon, January 6th, the Quang Tri Provincial Statistics Department held a press conference to announce the socio-economic statistics of Quang Tri province for 2024.

In 2024, Quang Tri province implemented its socio-economic development plan amidst numerous difficulties and challenges. However, with the high efforts and determination of the Party Committee, government, and people, the province's socio-economic situation achieved significant results. The growth rate of the gross regional product (GRDP) is estimated to increase by 5.97% compared to 2023.

Specifically, the agriculture, forestry, and fisheries sector grew by 3.37%; the industry and construction sector by 6.12%; and the service sector by 7.04%. The economic structure shifted in the right direction with an increase in the proportion of industry, construction, and services, and a decrease in the proportion of agriculture. The size of the economy is estimated at VND 53,508 billion; GRDP per capita is estimated at VND 81.2 million, an increase of 9.14% compared to 2023.

From the beginning of the year to December 15, 2024, the province saw 358 newly registered businesses, a decrease of 23.67% compared to the same period in 2023; the total registered capital was VND 3,006.35 billion, a decrease of 50.82%. Total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue in 2024 are estimated at VND 34,463.49 billion.

Regarding banking activities, as of December 15, 2024, capital mobilization in the province reached VND 40,630 billion; it is estimated that by December 31, 2024, capital mobilization will reach VND 41,000 billion, an increase of 12.53% compared to the end of 2023. Total outstanding loans to the economy as of December 15, 2024 reached VND 55,148 billion; it is estimated that by December 31, 2024, total outstanding loans to the economy will reach VND 56,000 billion, an increase of 8.51% compared to the end of 2023.

Total state budget revenue in the area from the beginning of the year to December 15, 2024 reached VND 4,349.69 billion, equivalent to 111.50% of the local budget estimate and an increase of 28% compared to the same period in 2023; of which domestic revenue was VND 3,248.38 billion; revenue from import and export activities was VND 1,005.34 billion. Investment capital implemented in the area in 2024 (at current prices) is estimated at VND 25,063.48 billion, an increase of 2.92% compared to the previous year.

In terms of social aspects, the average population in 2024 is estimated at 659,214 people. The labor force aged 15 and over in the province is estimated at 336,890 people. The projected rate of trained labor in 2024 is 75.16%, of which those with degrees or certificates account for 33.5%. The province has provided employment for approximately 14,700 workers, including 6,299 workers within the province, 5,367 workers outside the province, and 3,034 workers abroad. The multidimensional poverty rate in the province by the end of 2024 is projected to be 11.53%, a decrease of 1.63%.

The New Rural Development Program has had a positive impact in recent years, contributing to improving the lives of people in rural areas. Social welfare has been given attention, resulting in stable living conditions and no instances of hunger. Education and training, and healthcare have seen many positive changes. At the press conference, leaders of the Provincial Statistics Department and various departments and agencies discussed several issues of interest to the press, requesting clarification, especially the specific reasons for the increase and decrease in production indicators.
