(Quang Ngai Newspaper) - Overcoming many difficulties and challenges, Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical Joint Stock Company ( BSR ), the unit managing and operating Dung Quat Oil Refinery, achieved the 2024 plan milestone on November 18, finishing 43 days early.

BSR leaders said that in the difficult context, especially in the third quarter and the first half of the fourth quarter of 2024, fluctuations in crude oil prices led to narrowing of the refining industry's profit margin, creating financial pressure for BSR. To maintain stable production and business activities, BSR has developed and implemented a fluctuation management strategy, focusing on ensuring operational safety and flexibly adjusting production plans in accordance with market fluctuations. Thanks to that, by 5:00 p.m. on November 18, 2024, Dung Quat Refinery's petroleum output clock had reached the 2024 plan of more than 5.727 million tons, reaching the target 43 days early.
In 2024, BSR will carry out the 5th general maintenance of Dung Quat Oil Refinery, so the planned output is more than 5.7 million tons of products, lower than previous years (average 6.4 - 6.7 million tons/year). Before the general maintenance, there was a time when Dung Quat Oil Refinery was operating at up to 118% of its capacity. After the successful general maintenance, the factory has always operated safely and stably at optimal capacity. Thanks to that, it is expected that by the end of 2024, BSR will produce nearly 6.6 million tons of various products, exceeding the annual plan by 15%.

BSR General Director Bui Ngoc Duong shared that the results achieved by BSR in 2024 made an important contribution to the province's economic growth. Not only the results in 2024, but also the contributions of Dung Quat Refinery to the socio-economic development of Quang Ngai and the Central Coast region have been recognized and highly appreciated by the Party, the State and Quang Ngai province. Since its inception, BSR has produced more than 96.4 million tons of products; total revenue reached nearly 1.7 million billion VND; and paid more than 230 trillion VND to the state budget.
Optimize resources, master technology
Dung Quat Oil Refinery Director Cao Tuan Si shared that over the past time, the staff and workers of BSR have made efforts to ensure that Dung Quat Oil Refinery operates safely, stably and effectively. Maintenance work is regularly organized by BSR, optimizing available resources, saving costs, ensuring safe and stable operation for the plant. Increasing the application of science and technology solutions to improve labor productivity, safety and reliability of equipment operations. From the beginning of the year to September 2024, BSR has implemented 217 improvement solutions, bringing in 340 million USD (8.2 trillion VND) in revenue. Safety work, especially technological safety in production activities, has always been focused on and strictly implemented by BSR. The company has also been flexible and optimized in adjusting processing capacity and product structure according to market demand, contributing to ensuring national energy security and ensuring the production and business efficiency of the enterprise.
Along with increasing the search and processing of new types of oil, especially imported oil, to improve the flexibility of Dung Quat Refinery, BSR has researched the processing of VGO/Residue (intermediate components) to ensure the capacity of the RFCC workshop in the case of processing low residue oil. Testing and putting into use new types of catalysts and additives to increase competitiveness and optimize production.
Through 11 months of 2024, BSR has successfully completed its mission of... producing and selling over 40 thousand cubic meters of specialty fuels, including Jet K, DO-L62. From now until the end of 2024, BSR will continue to produce and sell an additional 17 thousand cubic meters of specialty fuels. In addition, BSR has researched and successfully applied the increase in output of high-value products such as ADO, Jet - A1, PP and increased the ratio of Mogas 95/Mogas 92 gasoline products from 40%/60% according to the original design to over 70%/30%.
