On October 2nd, New Zealanders began casting early votes for a new government ahead of the official election on October 14th.
According to RNZ, in a statement, election official Karl Le Quesne said that 400 polling stations were open on October 2nd. Voting ahead of the official election day is becoming increasingly popular, and in 2020, 68% of votes were cast early. Electronic and in-person voting abroad at embassies also began last week for registered voters.
