Mathematical Thinking Talent Competition

The participants in the competition are young members of the youth organization, competing individually, and are divided into 6 categories including students from grades 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6.

Speaking on behalf of the organizing committee, Director of the Center for Young Scientists and Technologists Development, Doan Kim Thanh, said that "Thinking Math" is a teaching method that uses mathematics as a tool to train children's thinking and problem-solving abilities. In addition, thinking math combines elements such as memorization, association, and creativity, helping children develop independent thinking habits, encouraging self-discovery and learning, making learning more enjoyable and effective.

Final round of the Math Championship 2023 (Figure 1) — The organizing committee has launched the Math Championship 2023, a competition for talented math thinkers.

Online Preliminary Round: from September 18, 2023 to October 1, 2023; Semi-final Round: tentatively October 21-22, 2023; Final Round and Award Ceremony: tentatively November 5, 2023 ( Hanoi ) and November 12, 2023 (Ho Chi Minh City).

Contest content includes: Thematic questions: arithmetic counting, patterns, geometry, shape counting; questions on quick calculation, mental arithmetic, operations, and numerical reasoning; and logic questions on problem-solving.

Following the semi-final round, the Organizing Committee selected the top 50 contestants from each category to advance to the final round. The final round will be held in person at a testing location designated by the Organizing Committee. Contestants who advance to the final round will receive a certificate of participation from the Center for the Development of Young Scientists and Technologists. The awards ceremony will be held on the same day after the final round results are announced.

The prize structure for each competition category includes: 1st Prize: 3 million VND in cash, scholarship, gifts, and a certificate of merit from the program (total value equivalent to 20,000,000 VND); 2nd Prize: 2 million VND in cash, scholarship, gifts, and a certificate of merit from the program (total value equivalent to 15,000,000 VND); 3rd Prize: 1 million VND in cash, scholarship, gifts, and a certificate of merit from the program (total value equivalent to 10,000,000 VND); Consolation Prize: for all children participating in the final round: gifts and a certificate from the program.
