In late autumn and early winter, Da Lat appears very different at dawn, with the sunset casting its light over the roads and lakes. Through the lens of photographer Huy Tuong, every little corner exudes a peaceful beauty.

Photographer Bui Huy Tuong moved from Quang Binh to Da Lat (formerly) in Lam Dong province in 2019 to pursue his career. His photo series, "Da Lat Through the Eyes of a Lover," is a collection of his experiences, drawn from the lives of those who have lived in the city for a considerable time and from the experiences of Da Lat residents. Each season, Da Lat takes on a unique beauty, but autumn and winter seem to bring it back to its true "self," a melancholic charm intertwined with the cool weather, yet without being overwhelmingly cold. At sunset, the lake shimmers like a mirror, the pine forests darken slightly, and the pink grass hills burst with color. During this season, mornings are clear with a light mist, afternoons gradually cool, the wind carries the scent of damp pine, and evenings see temperatures drop, the mountain town bathed in lights and fog. This year, September to November has been a challenging time for Da Lat, with rain, landslides on mountain passes, and a scarcity of tourists. As December arrives, the weather brightens, life and tourism gradually pick up, and the city eagerly anticipates the start of a bustling tourist season. According to photographers, visiting Da Lat during this time allows tourists to experience the slow, tranquil, and warm pace of life of the locals.

Besides Tuyen Lam Lake, Tia Stream, Cau Dat tea hill, Ngo Quyen hill, and the鴛鴦 hill, visitors can admire a very different Da Lat at dawn through the city's streets. In the twilight, with the sky still a dark purple, a few vendors are already setting up their stalls, and the sounds of trucks unloading vegetables and fruits fill the air. Locals also begin exercising along Xuan Huong Lake, leisurely cycling or walking along the winding roads, while tourists are scattered in the streets. As dawn breaks, the mist gradually dissipates, and the first rays of sunlight peek through the pine trees. The sunrise isn't overly spectacular, but the soft yellow hues create an indescribable sense of peace. "In my eyes, Da Lat is always dreamy and a little old-fashioned. The most beautiful thing is the simple pace of life around it. When you come to Da Lat, try renting a motorbike and riding your own way up the winding slopes, breathing in the fresh morning air. Or wake up early to jog around Xuan Huong Lake, drink a hot coffee or soy milk, and you'll understand Da Lat better," Tuong said.
