The festival honoring the Goddess of the Land at the Go Thap National Special Monument in Thap Muoi District, Dong Thap Province, takes place from the 14th to the 16th of the third lunar month every year, attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors. Throughout the festival, people are provided with free food and drinks.
Mr. Le Dinh Lang, director of the Go Thap Relic Site Management Board, said that on the first day of the festival alone, there were over 150,000 visitors.
"Within the framework of the festival, there will be activities such as: Exhibition of photographs of village communal houses and ancient houses in Dong Thap; art photographs on "Building the compassionate, dynamic, and creative people of Dong Thap" and documentation of 30 years of the offensive in Dong Thap Muoi;
The exhibition features historical and cultural documents, as well as religious beliefs related to Go Thap and the Via Ba Chua Xu festival; it also includes a rural market with 86 stalls selling traditional cakes and local specialties.
"The festival offers free drinks, rice, porridge, and banh xeo (Vietnamese savory pancakes) prepared by the local people. Specifically for banh xeo, we expect to prepare around 60,000 servings for the community," Mr. Lang said.
