On June 2nd, at an event in Taipei, the Chung-Shan National Institute of Science and Technology (NCSIST) showcased three weaponized quadrupedal robots capable of walking, crouching, and navigating rough terrain.
These machines are believed to be based on the Vision 60 platform developed by the American company Ghost Robotics.
These robot models include reconnaissance, combat, and LiDAR-equipped variants, which can be used for patrolling, perimeter security, and target tracking in all weather conditions.
The robot weighs approximately 52kg and has a top speed of 2.5m/s.
Jen Kuo-Kuang, Deputy Director of the Missile and Rocket Research Institute at NCSIST, said the institute has had preliminary contact with the Taiwanese military and believes they are in great need of robots for coastal surveillance, maritime patrol, and perimeter security of bases.
