At the subsequent talks, General Phan Van Giang emphasized that Vietnam and Indonesia are two neighboring countries sharing a maritime border and are active and responsible members of the ASEAN community.
The upgrading of relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership in March was a historic milestone, opening a new chapter in relations between the two countries, in which political , defense and security cooperation are important pillars.




Over the past time, bilateral defense cooperation has achieved good results, making an important contribution to strengthening political trust between the two countries. In particular, the exchange of delegations and contacts at all levels, especially at high levels, has been highly valued by both sides; cooperation between military branches, arms and maritime law enforcement forces continues to be a bright spot. Defense industry cooperation has achieved positive results; cooperation in the field of United Nations peacekeeping and between strategic research agencies has been promoted; consultation and mutual support have been actively provided at multilateral forums, especially ASEAN-led mechanisms and international events organized by each side.
General Phan Van Giang congratulated Indonesia on successfully organizing the 10th Indonesia International Defense Exhibition (June); and sincerely thanked Indonesia for sending a delegation to Vietnam to attend the Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2024.


General Phan Van Giang suggested that in the coming time, the two sides should strengthen their trustworthy, comprehensive and substantive cooperation, focusing on: exchanging delegations, meetings and contacts at high and all levels; continuing to effectively promote existing mechanisms, especially the defense policy dialogue mechanism; training cooperation; cooperation between the military, service branches and defense industry; continuing to closely consult and support each other at multilateral mechanisms and forums.
For his part, Indonesian Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin expressed his emotion when this morning he laid a wreath at the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and laid a wreath at the Monument to Heroes and Martyrs. He emphasized the development of bilateral defense cooperation based on the spirit of trust between the two sides.
He affirmed that the visit is a milestone in the Indonesia-Vietnam defense cooperation relationship. Mr. Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin suggested that the two countries' defense ministries further promote cooperation, in line with the framework of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership established during the State visit to Indonesia by General Secretary To Lam in March.



During the talks, the two sides also discussed the world and regional situation and issues of mutual concern. General Phan Van Giang affirmed Vietnam's consistent stance of resolving all disagreements in the East Sea by peaceful means, in accordance with international law.
