At the regular press conference of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs , responding to the press about Vietnam's request for countries to support in ensuring safe shelter for Vietnamese fishing boats in the face of storm No. 9 (Ragasa) making landfall, Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang informed that on September 25, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh signed a directive to ministries, branches and localities to focus on emergency response to storm Ragasa.
The Prime Minister requested to proactively deploy response at the highest level with the most drastic spirit, anticipating the worst scenario to avoid surprises, and putting the goal of ensuring people's safety above all else.
Ms. Pham Thu Hang said that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs immediately directed Vietnamese representative agencies in China and the Philippines to proactively contact local authorities to create conditions for Vietnamese vessels to take shelter, provide assistance, rescue people and repair vessels if necessary.
"At the same time, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has sent diplomatic notes to the Chinese Embassy and the Philippine Embassy in Vietnam, requesting coordination with relevant agencies on the Chinese and Philippine sides to support Vietnamese vessels if necessary.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also assigned staff to be on duty 24/7 to promptly support and contact domestic and foreign agencies to respond to the developments of storm Ragasa," Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang said.
