Dak Nong: Construction begins on a component project of the Gia Nghia - Chon Thanh expressway.

DNVN - The official launch of the Gia Nghia – Chon Thanh expressway component projects marks an important step in developing transportation infrastructure, boosting the economy, and improving the quality of life for the people.

On April 28th, in Dak Ru commune, Dak R'Lap district, the People's Committee of Dak Nong province held a groundbreaking ceremony for component project 2: investment in access roads and overpasses under the investment project to build the North-South Expressway (Western section) Gia Nghia - Chon Thanh, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and the reunification of the country.

The commencement of the Gia Nghia – Chon Thanh expressway component project marks an important step in the development of transportation infrastructure in Dak Nong province.

The Western section of the North-South Expressway, from Gia Nghia (Dak Nong) to Chon Thanh ( Binh Phuoc ), is 124.13 km long (of which 101.03 km is through Binh Phuoc and approximately 23.1 km is through Dak Nong). The project is being implemented under a public-private partnership (PPP) model, with a total investment of approximately VND 25,540 billion. This includes: VND 10,536.5 billion from the central government budget; VND 1,233.5 billion from the Binh Phuoc provincial budget; VND 1,000 billion from the Dak Nong provincial budget; and VND 12,770 billion from investor-arranged capital.

Specifically, component project 2 involves the investment and construction of access roads and overpasses across the section through Dak Nong province, with a total investment of 338 billion VND, funded by the local budget. The investment scale includes 20 access road sections with a total length of approximately 28.4 km, rural roads with a 6.5m wide roadbed and a 3.5m wide cement concrete surface, and 5 reinforced concrete overpasses.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Chairman of the Dak Nong Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Muoi said that the investment project to build the Western section of the North-South Expressway from Gia Nghia to Chon Thanh is a key national transportation project with particularly important strategic significance for the socio-economic development and national defense and security not only of Dak Nong and Binh Phuoc provinces but also of the entire Central Highlands and Southeast regions. It will connect with the economic and political centers of the region; create new development spaces and impetus; exploit land use potential, develop tourism, processing industries, and mining industries…

Chairman of the People's Committee of Dak Nong province, Ho Van Muoi, delivered a speech at the groundbreaking ceremony.

“Given the limitations in the province's and the region's transportation infrastructure, the construction of this expressway will open a new chapter, creating a strong impetus for Dak Nong to break through and integrate deeply into the country's overall development. The expressway will not only shorten travel time, reduce transportation costs, and enhance trade connectivity, but also create new development opportunities in the region, contributing to the effective exploitation of the province's economic and tourism potential and advantages,” Mr. Ho Van Muoi emphasized.

The Chairman of the People's Committee of Dak Nong province also assigned tasks to relevant agencies and units to effectively carry out their assigned duties. At the same time, he requested that the people continue to support and create favorable conditions for the construction units to successfully complete their tasks, contributing to the overall success of the project.

According to projections, the Gia Nghia - Chon Thanh expressway project will be substantially completed by 2026 and put into operation in 2027. The project will not only connect and create new development opportunities for Binh Phuoc and Dak Nong provinces, but also help exploit land use potential, develop tourism, processing industries, and mining industries, gradually restructuring the economy of the Central Highlands region. It will contribute to the successful achievement of socio-economic development goals and tasks, ensuring national defense and security in the Central Highlands and Southeast regions, and promoting national development in the new era.
