According to Lang Son Water Supply and Drainage Joint Stock Company, to meet the increased demand during peak days, from the beginning of January 2026, inspection and maintenance of the water supply system have been implemented simultaneously and early, focusing on pumping stations, water treatment plants, and the main pipeline network. Technical and operational personnel are on duty 24/7, ready to promptly handle any incidents that arise and minimize water supply disruptions.
Mr. Duong Huu Thuc, Head of Planning and Production Department of Lang Son Water Supply and Drainage Joint Stock Company, said: "The Lunar New Year is always considered a peak period, with people's water demand usually increasing by 20 to 30%, requiring early, systematic, and thorough preparation. From the beginning of December in the lunar calendar, we have developed a plan to ensure water supply during Tet, focusing on inspecting and reviewing the entire system from the source, pumping stations, treatment plants to the pipeline network. Items that are degraded or pose a potential risk of failure are prioritized for repair and replacement to minimize water supply disruptions."
In addition to technical work, the company also focuses on deploying personnel on duty 24/7 at pumping stations, water treatment plants, and mobile repair teams. Sufficient equipment and spare parts are prepared to promptly handle any incidents that may arise.
In particular, the unit has intensified its water quality monitoring efforts, increasing the frequency of sampling and testing compared to normal days, in order to strictly control safety indicators.
Mr. Tran Van Thinh, Director of the Huu Lung Water Supply Branch, said: Currently, the unit manages 160 km of pipelines and supplies water to nearly 6,800 customers. During the Tet holiday, the branch has developed a plan to ensure water supply in the area. Accordingly, the unit mobilized all 25 staff members to work in 3 shifts, on duty 24/7 to ensure the system operates stably. Our shifts maintain a high level of concentration, constantly monitoring operating parameters, water levels, and pipeline pressure to promptly detect and handle any incidents that may arise.
Currently, the infrastructure system of Lang Son Water Supply and Drainage Joint Stock Company includes 29 water treatment plants and stations, with a total consumption capacity of approximately 28,000 cubic meters per day, meeting the domestic and industrial water needs of over 60,000 customers in the area.
In 2025, the company promptly handled and resolved approximately 1,000 incidents related to leaks in water supply pipelines, technical operations, water quality, etc. The company proactively deployed resources to address these issues, ensuring that each incident was resolved within a maximum of two days, minimizing water supply disruptions. As a result, the water loss rate in 2025 was only about 25%, a reduction of 5-10% compared to previous years. Simultaneously, 100% of water samples tested met quality standards as regulated, ensuring safety during use.
In 2025, Lang Son Water Supply and Drainage Joint Stock Company collaborated with telecommunications companies to send text messages notifying customers of scheduled repairs, system upgrades, and promoting efficient and economical water use.
Besides the efforts of the water supply unit, people are also raising their awareness of using water economically and rationally, avoiding wasteful use or excessive concentration during peak hours. Ms. Hoang Thi An, a resident of Dong Kinh ward, shared: "In recent years, water shortages or weak water pressure during Tet (Lunar New Year) have almost never occurred. In the days leading up to Tet, my family uses more water for cleaning the house and cooking. I also regularly remind family members to use water economically and rationally, avoiding waste, especially during peak hours."
Thanks to proactive preparation, system operation, and 24/7 on-call duty, Lang Son Water Supply and Drainage Joint Stock Company has basically met the increased water demand during the Tet holiday. Ensuring the supply of clean water is not only a regular task but also has special significance, directly linked to daily life, contributing to helping people celebrate Tet safely and with peace of mind.
