However, not everyone is aware of this precious treasure of cultural heritage.
Therefore, as soon as singer Hoa Minzy's "Bac Bling" music video was released, Bac Ninh province launched a free tour called "The Quintessence of Bac Ninh Culture - Colors of Heritage" to capitalize on the MV's effect and spread the beauty of the Kinh Bac region to a wider audience of locals and tourists.

Timely intervention
Immediately after the release of the music video "Bac Bling," many tourists were curious to visit the locations featured in the video, such as Phat Tich Pagoda, Dau Pagoda, Do Temple, Ba Chua Kho Temple, Kinh Duong Vuong Mausoleum, Dong Ho Folk Painting Village, Phu Lang Pottery Village, Bac Ninh Museum, the Lonely Tree, etc.
Recognizing this trend, starting from March 8th, the Bac Ninh Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism organized a free tour titled "The Quintessence of Bac Ninh Culture - Colors of Heritage," with two routes per day, each route consisting of two 45-seat tourist buses, attracting Bac Ninh residents and tourists from Hanoi and other provinces and cities to experience it.
Thanks to the timely launch of free tours and travel routes, the number of tourists visiting Bac Ninh on weekends has increased dramatically.
According to Nguyen Huu Mao, Director of the Bac Ninh Museum and Tourism Promotion Center: “From March 8th to 23rd, we welcomed approximately 2,000 visitors to the ‘Essence of Bac Ninh Culture - Colors of Heritage’ tour. The number of visitors is increasing each day, but with the principle of ‘no one should leave without visiting Bac Ninh,’ from March 22nd to June 29th, we increased the number of tours to 4 per day and mobilized additional vehicles from various units in the province. To ensure the quality of the tours, we implemented online registration to maximize service for the number of registered visitors while maintaining the best possible service quality.”
Sharing his thoughts after visiting the sites, Mr. Nguyen Manh Dat, 97 years old, from Niem Xa area (Kinh Bac ward, Bac Ninh city), excitedly said: “It’s been a long time since I had the opportunity to return to visit these historical sites. Some of the destinations were places I visited for the first time thanks to participating in the free tour program. I am very proud that the beauty of my homeland is becoming more and more known to many people.”
Eager to participate in the tour, 22-year-old Minh Hang from Hoa Binh city said: “As soon as Bac Ninh province opened the free tour, my friends and I prepared beautiful traditional costumes to film clips at the historical sites featured in the music video “Bac Bling”. This is a popular trend among young people. Besides, participating in the program also helps me understand more about the beauty of Bac Ninh, thereby fostering my love and pride in Vietnam's cultural heritage.”
"Leverage" to attract customers
The timely implementation of the free tour program demonstrates Bac Ninh province's agility in mobilizing social resources and leveraging digital technology to promote and develop tourism linked to cultural industries. The synergistic effect of many factors has contributed to Bac Ninh's sudden rise on the Vietnamese tourism map after a long period of dormancy. This also shows that, if resources are fully utilized, each locality can attract tourists with unique products built upon its rich heritage.
However, to avoid the situation where tourism is only popular during promotions or free events, Bac Ninh needs to make the "Essence of Bac Ninh Culture - Colors of Heritage" tour a flagship product that can be exploited long-term. To achieve this, in addition to the province's guidelines and policies, the support of businesses is also necessary.
According to Mr. Luong Duy Ngan, General Director of Newstar Group Joint Stock Company, Bac Ninh needs to develop integrated tour packages to attract tourists from Hanoi and international visitors to the province. Besides the existing tourist routes, it is necessary to diversify experiences and improve service quality to extend the length of stay and increase spending by tourists visiting Bac Ninh.
Mr. Luong Duy Ngan also stated that Newstar Group is currently developing an all-inclusive tour package from Hanoi to Bac Ninh, including full services and insurance to meet the needs of tourists traveling from Hanoi.
With its rich cultural capital of 1,589 historical sites; 4 UNESCO-listed intangible cultural heritage sites, 8 national-level intangible cultural heritage sites, 547 traditional festivals, and 120 craft villages, Bac Ninh province has always aimed to become one of the major cultural tourism centers of the Red River Delta region and the whole country. This is the overarching direction outlined in Decision 406/QD-UBND dated September 19, 2022, approving the Project "Promoting the value of cultural heritage associated with tourism development in Bac Ninh province for the period 2021-2025, with a vision to 2030".
According to Nguyen Huu Mao, Director of the Bac Ninh Museum and Tourism Promotion, to increase the number of domestic and international tourists visiting the province in the coming time, Bac Ninh will implement programs and activities to promote and introduce the tourism potential, land, and people of Kinh Bac in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and the Chinese and European markets. In addition, the Bac Ninh Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism will also develop model tour routes and collaborate with the agricultural sector to develop OCOP products associated with traditional craft villages to increase services and souvenir products for tourists visiting Bac Ninh.
