On April 28th, the People's Committee of Kon Plông commune, Quang Ngai province, simultaneously inaugurated three tourist destinations: Kon Plông Community Tourism Village; Dong Truong Son Clean Tea Farm Tourist Destination; and Dong Truong Son Cultural and Culinary Space.
These are the first activities of Kon Plông commune in tourism development, aiming to awaken the potential and advantages of this plateau region.
Kon Plông Community Tourism Village is located on the Eastern Truong Son Road, with 138 households and over 520 inhabitants. Situated at an altitude of 1,000-1,500m, it enjoys a mild climate, rich natural landscapes, and the distinctive cultural identity of the Mơ Nâm ethnic group (a branch of the Xơ Đăng ethnic group).
Upon arriving at the village, visitors can experience a unique traditional cultural atmosphere, enjoy local cuisine, and immerse themselves in pristine nature.
In addition, visitors can experience a journey of over 1km, crossing terraced rice fields to discover the majestic So Roach waterfall amidst the mountains and forests.
The Dong Truong Son Clean Tea Farm tourist destination is located within the Dong Truong Son Tea Cooperative area. The opening of this agricultural tourism destination opens a new direction in exploiting the potential of ecotourism and experiential tourism associated with agricultural production; at the same time, it promotes the image of the homeland, people, and distinctive local products to tourists inside and outside the province.
The Eastern Truong Son Cultural and Culinary Space is located in Vi Choong village, along National Highway 24. At this destination, visitors can enjoy unique cultural features closely associated with the life, activities, work, and production of the Mo Nam people for generations, such as the captivating melodies of gongs and drums; the fragrant aroma of rice wine wafting across the hills; exquisite brocade fabrics; vibrant ceremonial poles; and majestic, towering communal houses.
Mr. Dang Dinh Toan, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Kon Plong commune, said that Kon Plong has the advantage of being located in the central area of Quang Ngai province, connecting communes, wards, and special zones in the eastern part of the province with those in the western part, via the Violak pass. Therefore, Kon Plong will become an ideal stopover for tourists traveling from the east to the west of Quang Ngai province, especially during holidays commemorating the 51st anniversary of the complete liberation of Southern Vietnam and national reunification, and International Labor Day.
"Developing tourism not only promotes the image of the locality and utilizes the potential and advantages of Kon Plông commune, but also opens up a new direction in economic development for the people in the area, helping them increase their income and contributing to the successful implementation of socio-economic tasks of Kon Plông commune," Mr. Dang Dinh Toan emphasized.
Ms. Le Thi Phuong, a tourist from Ho Chi Minh City, said that on her first visit to Kon Plong, she was impressed by the romantic atmosphere, the majestic and pristine natural scenery, and the cool climate. Experiencing the newly opened tourist attractions in the commune helped her and her friends better understand the culture, cuisine, and living spaces of the local ethnic minority people.
“Kon Plông has great potential for developing ecotourism and resort tourism, attracting visitors from all over to enjoy relaxing moments after hard days of work; and at the same time, explore the culture of the local ethnic minority people,” shared Ms. Le Thi Phuong.
Kon Plông commune in Quảng Ngãi province was established on the basis of Hiếu, Pờ Ê, and Ngọc Tem communes in the former Kon Plông district of Kon Tum province. Located in the Măng Đen plateau, at an altitude of over 1,000m above sea level, the climate here is cool year-round, the landscape is pristine, with large areas of primary forest and pine forests, interspersed with rice fields in the valleys, cultivated by the local ethnic minority people. This is an ideal condition for developing ecotourism and resort tourism.
The commune has a natural area of nearly 56,000 hectares and a population of over 9,800 people residing in 25 villages; of which ethnic minorities account for 91.8%. Located on National Highway 24 and the Eastern Truong Son Road, the commune serves as a gateway connecting the central coastal provinces with the Central Highlands and the Mang Den eco-tourism area. Forest cover reaches 83%, with a rich and diverse ecosystem.
According to the People's Committee of Kon Plông commune, the locality has great potential for developing eco-tourism and resort tourism with destinations such as Hơ Kook waterfall, Sơ Roách waterfall, Kơi Hơ Ruông waterfall; Thiên Tân hydroelectric lake; Ngọc Lu hot spring; Violak cloud-hunting tourist spot and Vi Chring village.
In terms of cultural tourism, there is the Dong Truong Son Cultural and Culinary Space; community tourism is offered in the villages of Kon Plong, Violak, and Kon Klung; and agricultural tourism with experiential activities is exemplified by the Dong Truong Son Tea Cooperative. These are all destinations with rich potential, still retaining their pristine beauty, promising to become attractive tourism products in the future.
