Unlocking the potential of cultural tourism .
With the province's attention and investment in preserving and promoting cultural heritage values in conjunction with tourism development, the potential for developing cultural tourism products in the land of martial arts is being unlocked.
Binh Dinh is a land with a rich history and cultural heritage. The province currently has 152 classified historical sites (2 special national sites; 34 national scenic spots and sites; 116 provincial sites) and 80 sites included in the heritage inventory. Besides the historical sites related to the Sa Huynh culture, Cham temple architecture, and the Tay Son peasant movement, Binh Dinh also possesses many intangible cultural heritages, such as traditional martial arts, traditional opera (hat boi), folk singing (bai choi), folk festivals, traditional craft villages, and unique culinary dishes , all of which represent significant potential for developing cultural tourism products.

In recent years, the province and localities have focused on allocating resources to invest in the management, preservation, and restoration of historical sites and scenic spots; protecting and promoting intangible cultural heritage; and investing in infrastructure connecting historical sites, tourist areas, and destinations, aiming to develop cultural tourism with the unique characteristics of each locality to serve tourists.
The efforts of businesses to bring tourists, especially foreign tourists, to Binh Dinh to experience cultural tourism have gradually shown many positive signs. Ms. Hoang Thi Thu Sen - Director of Vietravel Binh Dinh branch, Vice President of the Binh Dinh Tourism Association, said: “To meet the needs of tourists, in addition to exploiting cultural and historical tourism, Vietravel Binh Dinh also develops products such as scientific exploration tourism, MICE tourism (tourism combined with conferences and seminars), beach and island tourism… We take tourists to visit the system of Cham tower relics, explore cultural identity at folk festivals, traditional craft villages, and enjoy local cuisine… Thanks to good promotion, the image of the land and people of Binh Dinh is becoming increasingly attractive.”
Thich Tour Co., Ltd. is expanding its focus to cultural tourism linked with community tourism, offering tours such as: journeys to learn about the history of the Tay Son movement, visits to Cham towers and traditional craft villages, and experiences of Binh Dinh's culinary culture.
Mr. Dinh Quoc Thich, Director of Thich Tour Co., Ltd., said: “Compared to other tourism products, cultural tourism products are more selective in terms of customers. The cultural tours we have been offering for a long time have mostly attracted foreign tourists, with only a small number of domestic tourists who enjoy experiencing culture and history. In my opinion, cultural tourism products in Binh Dinh have great potential but have not yet attracted as many tourists as their potential suggests. Therefore, there should be closer cooperation between state management agencies and tourism businesses to exploit cultural values into unique products that attract tourists to experience them.”

In recent years, Phuong Mai Tourism Services Co., Ltd. has focused on developing cultural tours in Binh Dinh, connecting young tourists, especially students from schools in the province, to experience the Quang Trung Museum, the Provincial Museum, historical sites, scenic spots, and traditional craft villages to learn about the historical and cultural traditions of their homeland.
Ms. Le Thi Thanh Tra, representative of Phuong Mai Tourism Services Co., Ltd., said: “Cultural tours that provide experiences for students will help them become more interested in extracurricular activities and gain more useful knowledge for their studies. The company also develops cultural tours combined with science exploration tours and experiences of the sea and islands to serve domestic tourists of all ages.”
According to many tourism businesses, Binh Dinh has potential, strengths, and many conditions for developing cultural tourism. However, it is necessary to strengthen promotion, create diverse products, and link businesses to better meet the needs of tourists, serving them through various forms, in order to create an effect and attract tourists to Binh Dinh to experience cultural tourism.
