Reaching a new milestone in international integration

According to Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Anh Tuan, President of Foreign Trade University, scientific journals always carry a noble mission, which is to introduce and spread new knowledge and breakthrough discoveries to the academic community at home and abroad. Scientific publishing not only contributes to the treasure trove of human knowledge but also serves as a foundation for teaching, research, and policy making. This is even more important in the context of the world facing many challenges such as climate change, unsustainable development, and new technological revolutions.

Therefore, over the years, Foreign Trade University has continuously made efforts to invest in enhancing potential, finding new methods in scientific and technological activities of lecturers and students. Among them, the International Journal of Management and Economics has made great progress, in 2024 it was officially recognized as a member of the Southeast Asia Citation System (ACI), affirming its position among the high-quality scientific journals in the region and opening up great opportunities to enhance international cooperation.

According to Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Anh Tuan, in the coming time, the school aims to bring the Journal further, joining prestigious systems such as Scopus and Web of Science.

Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Van Phuc spoke at the event.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Van Phuc affirmed that the Foreign Trade University's International Journal of Management and Economics is the only journal in the field of economics in Vietnam (12 journals) to join ACI in 2024, a clear demonstration of the school's continuous efforts in improving research quality and international integration.

In order for the journal to continue to develop further, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Phuc suggested that Foreign Trade University and the Journal of International Management and Economics need to build a long-term development strategy, focusing on attracting high-quality research works from domestic and international scholars; strengthen cooperation, organize domestic and international academic seminars and forums to promote the exchange of knowledge and experience; invest in advanced technology and publishing processes to ensure transparency and efficiency in the review and publication process, and at the same time, develop a team of highly qualified editors and reviewers who understand international research trends in the field of management and economics.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Phuc also said that the Ministry of Education and Training supports and facilitates the development of high-quality scientific publications, contributing to enhancing the position of Vietnamese higher education in the international arena. In the future, the Ministry will have a specific plan and roadmap to support units in building international standard journals, aiming for Web of Science/Scopus.
