According to Associate Professor Bui Anh Tuan, Rector of the Foreign Trade University, scientific journals always carry a noble mission: to introduce and disseminate new knowledge and groundbreaking discoveries to the academic community both domestically and internationally. Scientific publishing not only contributes to the treasury of human knowledge but also serves as a foundation for teaching, research, and policy planning. This is even more significant in the context of a world facing numerous challenges such as climate change, unsustainable development, and new technological revolutions.
Therefore, over the years, the Foreign Trade University has continuously strived to invest in enhancing the potential and finding new methods in the scientific and technological activities of its faculty and students. Among these efforts, the Journal of International Management and Economics has made remarkable progress, officially becoming a member of the ASEAN Citation Index (ACI) in 2024, affirming its position among high-quality scientific journals in the region and opening up great opportunities for strengthening international cooperation.
According to Associate Professor Bui Anh Tuan, in the coming time, the university aims to expand the journal's reach and join prestigious systems such as Scopus and Web of Science.
Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Van Phuc delivered a speech at the event. |
Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Van Phuc affirmed that the Journal of International Management and Economics of the Foreign Trade University is the only journal in the field of economics in Vietnam (out of 12 journals) to join ACI in 2024, a clear testament to the university's continuous efforts in improving research quality and international integration.
To further develop the journal, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Phuc suggested that the Foreign Trade University and the Journal of International Management and Economics should develop a long-term development strategy, focusing on attracting high-quality research works from domestic and international scholars; strengthening cooperation and organizing domestic and international academic conferences and forums to promote the exchange of knowledge and experience; investing in advanced technology and publishing processes to ensure transparency and efficiency in the peer review and publication process; and developing a team of highly qualified editors and reviewers who understand international research trends in the fields of management and economics.
Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Phuc also stated that the Ministry of Education and Training supports and facilitates the development of high-quality scientific publications, contributing to enhancing the position of Vietnamese higher education internationally. Going forward, the Ministry will have a specific plan and roadmap to support institutions in developing journals that meet international standards, aiming towards Web of Science/Scopus.
