Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Van Phuc attended and spoke at the ceremony.
According to Decision No. 408/QD-BGDĐT dated February 23, 2026, of the Minister of Education and Training, the Ho Chi Minh City Branch of the Foreign Trade University was established on the basis of Campus II of the Foreign Trade University in Ho Chi Minh City.


The decision to establish a branch campus in Ho Chi Minh City on the foundation of Campus II, after 33 years of formation and development, is seen as a transition to a new phase of development, with the orientation of strengthening university autonomy, improving training capacity, scientific research, and innovation.
The branch campus will foster closer links between the school and the business community, the labor market, and the socio -economic development needs of the country, especially in the southern region.

In the coming period, the Ho Chi Minh City branch of the Foreign Trade University will continue to leverage its strengths in training in economics, business, management, finance, logistics, and interdisciplinary fields according to international standards.
In addition, the branch campus will promote digital transformation in university administration; apply technology and artificial intelligence in teaching, research, and management; build an innovation ecosystem for students; and expand international cooperation networks and strengthen connections with businesses.
Expanding the scope of development
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Van Phuc assessed that the establishment of the branch campus in Ho Chi Minh City is an important milestone in the development of the Foreign Trade University.
The branch campus contributes to training high-quality human resources, meeting the requirements of integration and sustainable development of Ho Chi Minh City, the Southern region, and the whole country.
The upgrade from Campus II to Branch Campus will create opportunities for the Foreign Trade University to expand its development space and elevate its training and research activities to a new level.

Looking ahead, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Phuc suggested that the school continue to focus on expanding the development space of the branch campus; and at the same time, urgently consolidate the organizational structure and build a strong team of full-time staff and lecturers. In particular, attention should be paid to developing a team of lecturers with doctoral degrees to enhance training and scientific research capacity.
Regarding the quality of training, the Deputy Minister emphasized the requirement that the Ho Chi Minh City branch of the Foreign Trade University must ensure a quality of training equivalent to that of the main campus in Hanoi . In addition, the university needs to diversify its academic programs, levels, and types of training to meet the increasingly high demands of learners.

The Deputy Minister also requested the Foreign Trade University to accelerate the development and modernization of its training programs in line with international integration, closely following new global development trends and the practical needs of the labor market. Along with that, the university should focus on promoting scientific research and innovation, creating a foundation for sustainable development.
"With 33 years of formation and development, it can be affirmed that the construction and development of the Ho Chi Minh City Campus II of the Foreign Trade University has been very successful. The establishment of the branch campus today will create a foundation for the university to continue to develop strongly and sustainably in the future," Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Phuc emphasized.
