Speaking at the exhibition, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Nguyen Duy Thang said: "Exhibition is a Sino-Vietnamese word, which can be understood as 'a competition of sophistication'. This is the old name for fairs and exhibitions, organized to introduce and promote works and products, thereby creating market opportunities, promoting trade, and developing the economy in the region and around the world. These activities have existed since ancient times in the world in many different forms."
In Vietnam, domestic trade fairs were primarily organized to showcase and exchange goods. This activity was particularly frequent in Hanoi, Saigon, and other provinces and cities throughout the country during the French colonial period. Trade fairs in the late 19th century, as well as international trade fairs held in major cities of France, Belgium, or the United States, all included participation from Indochina, including Vietnam. The presence of symbolic images and unique goods at these trade fairs provided an opportunity for the world to learn about Vietnamese identity and excellence in many fields.
Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Nguyen Duy Thang speaks at the exhibition.
"Through the 'Trade Fair' exhibition, we can learn about the unique characteristics of trade fairs and exhibitions. At the same time, we can also learn about our history regarding policies for production, economic , and trade development during our late socialist period," Deputy Minister Nguyen Duy Thang emphasized.
The Deputy Minister of Home Affairs expressed his hope that, through the exhibition, the Organizing Committee would enthusiastically introduce to the public valuable documents about Vietnamese history, so that they could better understand the historical value of the Vietnamese people throughout the periods of resistance. At the same time, it would help preserve and promote the indomitable spirit of fighting against foreign invaders to protect the country.
The "Exhibition" exhibition depicts the spaces of important national and international exhibitions, where the finest Vietnamese craftsmanship converged from the late 19th to the 20th centuries. Not only glorious in the past, this Vietnamese craftsmanship continues to be maintained and developed by successive generations in the era of integration.
Through this exhibition, the organizers hope to introduce to the general public the rich and valuable archival materials about ancient Vietnam through a trade fair, while also creating a space for society to explore its heritage and memories.
The "Exhibition" will take place from January 26th to January 30th, 2024 at the National Archives Center I, Vu Pham Ham Street, Cau Giay District, Hanoi.
