The August 1945 general uprising, in the form of demonstrations by 200,000 people from Hanoi's inner and outer districts, achieved a glorious victory. From then on, the government in Hanoi fell into the hands of the Viet Minh. Hanoi was reborn and celebrated Independence Day - National Day on September 2nd.
The flames of war continued to engulf the streets of Hanoi from the end of 1946 when the French colonialists returned to invade our country. Responding to President Ho Chi Minh's call for national resistance, the entire army and people of Hanoi fought bravely, determined to sacrifice everything for their beloved capital.
After eight years of tenacious resistance, the people of the capital joyfully welcomed the victorious army marching to liberate Hanoi. The red flag with a yellow star flew proudly atop the Hanoi flagpole, marking the end of a journey filled with hardship, sacrifice, but also with immense glory and honor. The capital city of Hanoi shone brightly with the light of peace, independence, and freedom in October 1954.
The exhibition "Oh, fellow citizens of the capital!" in 3D online format allows viewers to experience Hanoi during the resistance war against the French anytime, anywhere. Documents and images are presented in 3D space, from the Hanoi Citadel to Dong Xuan Market, through the Old Quarter and the Grand Theatre Square, towards the Presidential Palace.
