According to information from the British Embassy in Hanoi, British International Investment (BII) and Idemitsu Kosan (IKC), one of Japan's leading energy companies, have announced a joint investment in Skye Renewables Energy (Skye) company aims to support the development of solar power projects and decarbonization process in Southeast Asia, including Vietnam.
BII and IKC's investment will help Skye, headquartered in Singapore, expand its solar power production scale to a capacity of over 300MW in the coming years. Solar projects are expected to help reduce 270.000 tons of CO2/year, equivalent to the emissions of more than 47.000 households using electricity in a year.
British Ambassador to Vietnam Iain Frew shared: “The UK is committed to supporting Vietnam in implementing a green and equitable energy transition. We are delighted that BII reaffirms its commitment to combating climate change and building a more sustainable Southeast Asia region. By harnessing the power of renewable energy, we not only reduce carbon emissions but also create opportunities for economic growth and job creation in Vietnam.”
