Mekong Delta: Number of dengue fever and measles cases increases sharply.

The disease situation in the Mekong Delta provinces is becoming increasingly complex, with a rapid increase in cases of dengue fever, measles, and hand, foot, and mouth disease recently.

In Long An province , 903 cases of dengue fever have been recorded since the beginning of the year, a 2.1-fold increase compared to the same period last year (430 cases).

In response to the increasing number of cases, the Provincial People's Committee has directed localities to strengthen disease prevention and control, thoroughly handle outbreaks, ensure sufficient medicine and hospital beds, and widely disseminate information to the public.

In Tien Giang province , the Provincial People's Committee has requested the acceleration of vaccination efforts, especially catch-up and supplementary vaccinations for children who have not received all the vaccines in the expanded immunization program, and the full updating of children's vaccination information on the national immunization information system.

In addition, the Department of Health is tasked with closely monitoring the disease, decisively implementing prevention and control measures, thoroughly handling outbreaks, preventing the spread or emergence of new outbreaks, strengthening communication, and ensuring adequate medical logistics according to the "four on-site" principle.

In addition, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Tien Giang province is strengthening proactive monitoring, early detection, and timely handling of animal diseases, especially avian influenza and rabies; effectively managing dog and cat populations and vaccinating livestock, poultry, and pets against diseases.

From the beginning of 2025 until now, the province has recorded 398 cases of dengue fever, 212 cases of hand, foot and mouth disease, with no deaths.

The Fatherland Front, mass organizations, and local people have launched a campaign to eliminate mosquito larvae in Ben Tre City, Ben Tre Province.

In Ben Tre province, the Provincial Center for Disease Control (CDC) reported that from the beginning of 2025 to date, there have been 376 cases of dengue fever, a 4.3-fold increase compared to the same period in 2024 (88 cases), with the highest concentration in Ben Tre City. In addition, the province also recorded 268 cases of measles and 261 cases of hand, foot, and mouth disease.

The Ben Tre CDC warns of the risk of disease outbreaks during the rainy season and advises people to proactively get vaccinated and cooperate in eliminating mosquito larvae and promptly handling outbreaks.
