Comrade Ho Thi Thanh Tam - Vice President of the Trade Union of Hanoi Clean Water Company Limited, shared: "For those of us working in the water supply industry, learning from President Ho Chi Minh is not something grand or far-fetched. It means learning the spirit of dedication to work, learning integrity, responsibility, and a scientific and efficient working style, always wholeheartedly serving the people."
Based on that understanding, the Company's Trade Union has played a core role in disseminating and mobilizing union members and workers to study and follow President Ho Chi Minh's ideology through many practical methods closely related to the daily work of each unit. One of the outstanding achievements is the movement to learn about the virtues of "Diligence" and "Frugality," linked to the task of reducing water loss.
According to Ms. Ho Thi Thanh Tam, the work of the water sector is not limited to producing and supplying clean water, but also contributes to ensuring social welfare, caring for public health, and improving the quality of life for the people of Hanoi. Therefore, the biggest waste is the amount of clean water that has been produced but cannot reach the people due to leaks and losses in the network.
Based on that reality, the company has implemented many projects to improve the network for preventing losses and waste in areas with high loss rates. The trade union also launched the "Every drop of clean water is a drop of sweat" campaign, thereby raising awareness among staff and union members about their responsibility to conserve resources, protect state assets, and safeguard the interests of the people.
The movement received a positive response from workers. Many network maintenance workers worked tirelessly day and night, quietly inspecting old pipelines and persistently searching for leaks in complex areas to minimize water loss.
Images of workers wading through mud in the cold night to repair pipelines and ensure uninterrupted water supply have become a beautiful symbol of responsibility and dedication. Thanks to these persistent efforts, the company's water loss rate has decreased from 15.48% in 2020 to 11.13% in 2025, contributing to savings of tens of billions of VND annually for the enterprise and the State.

Beyond promoting diligence and frugality, the Company's Trade Union also focuses on learning from President Ho Chi Minh's "people-centered" and "people-friendly" style by improving customer service quality. Starting with leading the development of a code of conduct with the motto "Dedication - Transparency - Friendliness"; organizing numerous communication skills training courses for cashiers and "one-stop" service staff at water supply units, the spirit of "putting the people at the center" has spread widely throughout the entire system.
When residents complain about bills, water quality, or other service-related issues, staff and workers promptly respond, listen attentively, and resolve problems with responsibility and dedication to serving the community. This has contributed to improving service quality and building public trust in the Hanoi water supply company. These changes are clearly felt by residents in their daily lives.
Having received direct guidance from local officials on standardizing personal information for signing electronic contracts, Ms. Doan Diep Anh from Yen Hoa ward assessed that Hanoi's water sector has made many positive changes recently, from moving towards transparency in water supply services to a better service spirit. Citizen feedback is received more quickly, repairs are more timely, and the attitude of officials and employees is more approachable and responsible. For elderly customers or those unfamiliar with smart devices, staff even provide direct assistance to ensure that all residents can easily access the new service.
"What reassures me is not only the stable supply of clean water but also the dedication of those working in the water industry whenever people need assistance," said Ms. Doan Diep Anh.
Ms. Cu Thi Tang, a resident of Ngoc Ha ward, shared: “Previously, signing documents in person was quite time-consuming. Now, with electronic contracts, the process is much more convenient, especially for busy people. I see that the water industry is changing towards digitalization and modernizing, serving the people better.”
Simultaneously, the Company's Trade Union actively promotes the movement of creative labor emulation and learning the spirit of "self-reliance and innovation," in the context of strong digital transformation. Many programs applying modern technologies have been implemented, such as digital number reading software via app, electronic payment, SCADA system operation, and advanced management software. The Trade Union plays a bridging role, supporting its members in accessing new technologies, improving their professional skills, and adapting to the development requirements of the industry.
The "Technical Innovation and Improvement" movement is also regularly maintained, encouraging workers to research and propose solutions to improve water quality, improve construction and repair methods for pipelines, and optimize operational processes.
Through these concrete and practical actions, the study and emulation of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, ethics, and style at the Hanoi Water Supply Company Limited's Trade Union has truly deepened, creating a clear transformation in the awareness and actions of union members and workers.
