Early one morning at the end of the year, a delegation of leaders from Dong Hoa commune visited Heroic Vietnamese Mother Pham Thi Chinh. Now over 90 years old, Mother Chinh can no longer walk, but upon hearing the car stop in front of her house, she smiled, recognizing the delegation. In her small house, she sat on her familiar wooden bed, her gentle eyes reflecting emotion. “I missed you all so much,” she said slowly, her voice weak but full of affection. The kind words of inquiry and sincere wishes for good health filled the house with warmth.

After visiting Heroic Vietnamese Mother Pham Thi Chinh, the Dong Hoa commune leadership delegation continued their visit to the family of Mr. Vo Van Ho, a disabled veteran (category 3/4) residing in Thanh Tien hamlet. Receiving the delegation in his faded military uniform, Mr. Ho recounted stories of his comrades and the arduous fighting days that remain vividly etched in his memory. Receiving Tet gifts from the delegation, Mr. Ho emotionally said: “I hope to have good health to live with my family. Every Tet, receiving visits from the local authorities makes me feel very warm.”

According to Le Minh Nho, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Dong Hoa Commune, caring for war veterans and their families during Tet (Lunar New Year) is not only a political task but also a responsibility and a moral obligation that today's generation needs to cherish and preserve. The commune has 195 families of war veterans and their families receiving monthly allowances. In recent years, the care for war veterans and their families has always been a priority for the commune's Party Committee, government, and mass organizations, ensuring timely and complete implementation according to regulations. For the Tet holiday of the Year of the Horse 2026, the commune government hopes that each gift and each word of greeting will contribute to helping these families celebrate a more fulfilling, warm, and joyful Tet.

In the days leading up to Tet (Lunar New Year), Dong Hung commune also organized many activities to express gratitude to those who have rendered meritorious service. A delegation of commune officials visited war invalid Pham Thanh Ngon, a 3/4-rank veteran residing in Ngoc Hien hamlet. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Trinh, Secretary of the Dong Hung Commune Party Committee, said: “The commune always strives to ensure that families of those who have rendered meritorious service receive timely attention and encouragement, especially those with difficult circumstances and poor health. Each gift reflects our deep gratitude and appreciation. We hope these activities will contribute to helping these families celebrate Tet more fully, warmly, and meaningfully,” Ms. Trinh said.
