- The Ministry of Construction has agreed to study the expansion of 15 sections of the North-South expressway using public investment capital, and then organize toll collection to recoup the investment from the state budget.

The Ministry of Construction is urgently finalizing the dossier to submit to the Government and the Prime Minister for consideration of the investment plan to expand the North-South Expressway (Eastern section) using state budget funds.

According to the consulting firm, the option considered to be highly comprehensive and synchronized is that the entire sections from Mai Son to Cam Lo and from Quang Ngai to Dau Giay will be studied for expansion to a full 6-lane scale as planned. The total length under study is approximately 1,144 km.

Upon completion, the expressway will ensure seamless connectivity from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City, meeting modern expressway standards with a design speed of 100-120 km/h. The preliminary total investment for this option is approximately 154,246 billion VND.

The Ministry of Construction has been tasked with urgently completing the dossiers to submit to the Government and the Prime Minister for consideration and reporting to the National Assembly for a decision on the investment policy. The goal is to commence the expansion of eligible projects as early as the beginning of 2027.
