On the afternoon of March 10th, VPF Company held a conference to discuss preparations for organizing the 2025/26 National Professional Football Leagues. One of the notable issues of interest to many teams was the foreign player quota for the V.League.

In the spirit of gathering feedback, VPF received input from several clubs regarding increasing the number of foreign players registered for the entire league to 5, but only allowing 3 players to be used on the field. Currently, clubs are allowed to register 3 players and use all 3 on the field. Teams participating in Asian Cups and Southeast Asian Cups are allowed to register 5 players in the V.League and use 3.

The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) may increase the number of foreign players allowed in the V.League.

In the event of an increase in the number of foreign players allowed, teams participating in the Asian Cup and Southeast Asian Cup could register 7-9 foreign players, but this proposal has not yet been approved.

In addition, several important aspects of the plan for organizing professional football leagues in the 2025/26 season were presented and feedback was solicited from the clubs. Among these, the plan for organizing the 2025/26 season was one of the top priorities.

Based on the national team's plans, resolutions from the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) Executive Committee meetings, and the VFF's annual General Assembly resolutions, VPF Company has presented two options for the 2025/26 season's competition schedule. These options were sent to professional clubs for feedback before the conference.

Option 1: The 2025/26 season kicks off with the National Super Cup on August 9, 2025, the V.League opens on August 15, 2025, and is expected to end on June 18, 2026. In addition to the legally mandated FIFA Days breaks, Option 1 includes an extra break of approximately two months to make way for the 33rd SEA Games and the Vietnam U23 team's participation in the AFC U23 Asian Championship finals.

Option 2: The U23 team does not participate in the U23 Asian Championship finals. The expected start and end dates of the season are similar to Option 1; however, in addition to the FIFA Days break, there will only be an extra month-long break for the 33rd SEA Games.
