Beautifying the landscape
At the end of March, the opening ceremony of the National Tourism Year - Hue 2025 took place on the outdoor stage in front of Quoc Hoc High School for the Gifted, Thuan Hoa district, offering the people of Hue and audiences nationwide a vibrant light show.
To create that dazzling performance, the outdoor stage was equipped with a spectacular lighting system. According to Mr. Duong Quang Hien, Director of the Thuan Hoa District Green Park Center, the area featured two floodlights, over 200 recessed LED lights, and more than 300 waterproof LED strip lights. The LED strip lights were installed along the grandstand steps, railings, and stage edges, creating a soft, dynamic effect whenever the light changed color. Meanwhile, the recessed LED lights added depth to the space, making the stage area stand out while maintaining harmony with the riverside landscape.
The creation of an outdoor stage on the banks of the Perfume River not only enhances the landscape but also opens up opportunities to maximize the tourism and cultural potential of both banks. This has been a long-standing concern of those who love Hue.
I recall that at the 2018 final workshop on "Detailed Planning of the Two Banks of the Perfume River and the Pilot Project," some delegates suggested that the area along the two banks of the Perfume River was currently quite dark and lacked focal points, needing more prominent lighting. This opinion received support from provincial leaders and many participating delegates. Since then, with the strong development of artistic lighting technology, Hue has gradually transformed its urban space into vibrant works of art at night.
One example of this transformation is the fountain in Ly Tu Trong Park, located in front of the Hue City People's Committee headquarters. The centerpiece of the park is an artistic fountain designed in the shape of a stylized plum blossom, divided into three main circles. All of these are combined with RGB LED lights, creating a mesmerizing water and light show that delights locals and tourists alike.
Adding a new highlight
Along with the vibrant development of artistic lighting projects in the city, another highlight worth mentioning is the Nguyen Hoang Bridge, a new structure that has attracted the attention of both locals and tourists. The bridge's design is based on the symbolic image of "Crane Worshipping Thien Mu Pagoda," with arches resembling the outstretched wings of a crane, gracefully soaring over the river towards Thien Mu Pagoda. The bridge's design reflects the solemnity and majesty of Vietnamese emperors, while also honoring the close relationship between humans and nature, especially the Perfume River. Yellow is chosen as the dominant color, symbolizing the inheritance and development of traditional cultural values.
To add to its appeal, the Nguyen Hoang Bridge is adorned with artistic lighting systems in the shape of golden imperial canopies at both ends. These canopies not only bear a strong cultural imprint but also continuously change color, creating a vibrant spectacle on the Perfume River at night. In addition to the canopies, the Nguyen Hoang Bridge is also equipped with a color-changing dome lighting system, which can be flexibly adjusted to suit various festivals or special events. This color-changing lighting technology is also applied to the cable-stayed bridge and its underside, creating a harmonious and impressive overall effect. Furthermore, the bridge is equipped with a modern traffic lighting system, ensuring safety while also contributing to the aesthetic appeal of the urban landscape.
