Visit Cau Dat - Da Lat and experience the Tam Hoa plum orchards.

Located about 25km from the center of Da Lat, the Cau Dat area has long been famous for its mild climate and vast tea plantations. In recent years, this region has gradually developed a new tourism product – agricultural experiences associated with the Tam Hoa plum orchards, attracting a large number of tourists, especially during peak holiday seasons.

Thanks to its advantageous altitude, fertile soil, and year-round cool climate, the people of Xuan Truong ward, Da Lat, Lam Dong province, have boldly introduced the Tam Hoa plum variety, a specialty originating from the northern mountainous provinces, for experimental cultivation. After nearly 7 years, this variety has adapted well, yielding high economic returns and opening up a new direction for experiential tourism development in the area.

One exemplary model is the plum orchard of Mr. Tran Van Tan in Tram Hanh 1 village, Xuan Truong commune, Da Lat. From an initial area of nearly 500m2 in 2019, his family has now expanded to approximately 2,500m2 with nearly 200 trees. On average, each tree yields 30-40kg of fruit per season, selling at around 100,000 VND/kg at the orchard, providing a stable income.

On average, each tree yields 30-40kg of fruit per season, with a selling price of around 100,000 VND/kg at the farm, providing a stable source of income.

Not content with just producing, in 2026, Mr. Tan's family began opening their orchard to visitors for tours and experiences. Each day, the orchard attracts around 200 visitors, with a significant increase during holidays. For an entrance fee of 30,000 VND per adult (children are free), visitors can tour the orchard, take photos, and enjoy plums right there.

This holiday season, Ms. Ngoc Anh, a resident of Da Lat, chose the Tam Hoa plum orchard in Cau Dat with her young children and a group of friends as their destination. Ms. Ngoc Anh shared: "Although I live in Da Lat, this is the first time I've taken my children to a plum orchard. The atmosphere is very refreshing, and the children were able to pick and eat the fruit themselves, which they really enjoyed. This activity was both fun and helped the children understand more about agriculture and nature."

Experiencing the Tam Hoa plum orchard in Cau Dat is both relaxing and helps children learn more about agriculture.

Not only locals, but many tourists from other provinces and cities also include plum orchard experiences in their itineraries when visiting Da Lat, Lam Dong .

Mr. Nguyen Van Loi, a tourist from Ho Chi Minh City, said that during their holiday trip, his family visited many famous places in Da Lat, Cau Dat tea plantation, and especially spent time experiencing the Tam Hoa plum orchard in Cau Dat. "Initially, we just intended to visit out of curiosity, but when we got there, the whole family loved it. The children got to pick plums themselves and eat them right in the orchard. The atmosphere was cool and peaceful, very different from crowded tourist spots. This was the most memorable close-to-nature experience for my family on this trip," Mr. Loi shared.

According to Mr. Loi, agricultural tourism models like the Tam Hoa Cau Dat plum orchard not only provide a relaxing experience but also help members, especially children, understand more about the agricultural production process. "My family will recommend it to friends and will definitely come back if we have the chance," he added.

The children thoroughly enjoyed their experience at the Tam Hoa Plum Garden in Cau Dat.

The lush green spaces, rows of plum trees laden with fruit, and the "a day as a farmer" experience are becoming attractive highlights, especially for families with young children. Visitors not only get to tour the area but also learn about the process of planting and caring for the crops, thereby raising awareness about clean and sustainable agriculture.

According to Mr. Tran Van Tan, proper care of plum trees plays a crucial role in achieving high yields. The soil must be carefully treated and fertilized with organic fertilizer before planting. During the growth process, the trees need regular watering, appropriate nutrient supplementation, and frequent monitoring for pests and diseases. Currently, not only Mr. Tan's household, but many households in Xuan Truong, Da Lat are also switching to growing Tam Hoa plums in combination with tourism. This model initially shows a double benefit: increasing income while contributing to the diversification of local tourism products.

Mr. Tran Hung Son, Chairman of the People's Committee of Xuan Truong Ward, Da Lat, said that in the coming time, the locality will continue to encourage people to expand the area of plum cultivation, especially in the direction of intercropping in coffee gardens, and at the same time support the development of experiential tourism destinations associated with agriculture. With the advantage of being located on National Highway 20, connecting Da Lat with the coastal provinces of South Central Vietnam, along with famous tourist attractions such as Cau Dat tea hill, cloud hunting, etc., Xuan Truong Ward in Da Lat is gradually becoming an attractive destination. In particular, the Tam Hoa plum orchard in Cau Dat is not only an agricultural product but is also expected to become a new "tourism specialty".
