Mount's future is a big question mark. |
According to MEN , this could be Mount's last season wearing the "Red Devils" shirt. Since arriving at MU with high expectations, the English midfielder has never been able to maintain consistent form for an extended period. Recurring injuries have often kept him sidelined, preventing him from contributing as expected.
During the final period under Ruben Amorim, Mount made significant contributions to the team's overall performance, even becoming one of the Portuguese coach's preferred choices. However, since Michael Carrick took over as manager, Mount has almost disappeared from the team. His inconsistent fitness has led to his gradual exclusion from the squad.
Salary is also a major obstacle making it difficult for Mount to stay at MU, especially as INEOS is determined to rebalance the team's finances and streamline the squad. The former Chelsea star currently earns around £200,000 per week – a considerable sum considering his actual contributions on the pitch.
If Manchester United are forced to part ways with Mount this summer, they will almost certainly have to accept a significant loss compared to the initial transfer fee of £60 million. However, an offer in the £20-30 million range is considered a viable option.
If this deal goes through, it would be a regrettable end to a player who was once expected to become a key figure in Old Trafford's midfield.
