Den Vau beat everyone.

Among dozens of Tet holiday music releases resulting from artist-brand collaborations, Den Vau's "Home Taste" has surpassed them all.

The trending race for Tet music has concluded with the outstanding achievement of "Vi Nha" ( Home's Taste). After nearly two weeks since its release, Den Vau's new song has reached 9 million listens/views on YouTube and absolutely dominates the trending charts. While "Vi Nha " hasn't helped Den Vau replicate the success of "Di Ve Nha" (Going Home) , it's still a successful product, bringing Den Vau back to the top of the trending charts.

During the 2025 Lunar New Year, Vietnamese music experienced a surge in releases . Thanks to the popularity of game shows, a number of singers rose to prominence, creating a strong online following. Brands approached them to collaborate on releasing New Year's music to promote their products.

The race for social media buzz heated up as brands poured money into advertising. Ultimately, the victory went to Den Vau and Noo Phuoc Thinh.

Den Vau won the race against Soobin and Bui Cong Nam.

I'm fed up with Bui Cong Nam.

This year, the highlight of the Lunar New Year music scene is the presence of Bui Cong Nam, Den Vau, the duo Soobin Hoang Son - Tien Cookie, and the return of Noo Phuoc Thinh.

Soobin's music video " Em ơi! Anh nhớ nhà" (Hey, I Miss Home) was released like a "bomb" in Vietnamese music. After "Anh trai vượt ngàn chông gai" (Brother Overcoming a Thousand Thorns), Soobin's name suddenly became incredibly popular. The reunion of Soobin and Tiên Cookie was another milestone, helping the music video attract a lot of attention in its early days of release.

Compared to "Going Home 1" and "Going Home 2 , " "Going Home 9 " ( Brother! I Miss Home ) no longer has the same strong popularity. The music video was a sensation at the beginning but gradually faded from the "trending" charts later on. The MV's performance proves that the song lacks high replayability and the lyrical or visual elements needed to create a significant online impact.

In terms of quantity, Bui Cong Nam dominated the 2025 Tet music scene. He was credited in 6 Tet music videos, either as a composer or as both composer and performer. Bui Cong Nam's popularity stems primarily from his numerous successful Tet songs. Furthermore, this is a time when his name is gaining significant media attention thanks to the boost from the game show "Anh Trai" (Brother).

This year, Bui Cong Nam has appeared too frequently, leading to listener overload. Each of the singer's Tet (Lunar New Year) songs has a different style, but none have left a lasting impression. For example, the music video " Coming Home for Tet 2 " has 6.7 million views on YouTube after 3 weeks. However, " Coming Home for Tet 2" didn't even make it to the trending list, indicating that most of the views came from advertising.

The success of Tet music in 2025, besides "Vi Nha," is "Kho Qua Thi Ve Me Nuoi" by Noo Phuoc Thinh. " Vi Nha" dominated YouTube trending, achieved high rankings on digital music platforms, marking the first hit song of Vietnamese music in 2025. Meanwhile, "Kho Qua Thi Ve Me Nuoi" by Noo Phuoc Thinh created a huge buzz on the TikTok platform.

How Den Vau won

Just two months ago, Den Vau failed to get his music video "Trieu Dieu Nho Xiu Long" to compete for a spot in the top trending charts. This time, with "Vi Nha ," Den Vau succeeded because he didn't have too many strong competitors. Returning to the familiar theme of family and homesickness, Den Vau's profound lyrical writing is another factor contributing to the success of "Vi Nha ."

Although it also features a brand, "Vi Nha" doesn't incorporate excessive and blatant advertising like most other Lunar New Year music videos.

Den Vau's music remains unchanged, still featuring a structure of rap verses interwoven with hooks. Alongside this, the catchy, memorable hook, sung by a female voice, remains a key highlight contributing to Den Vau's success. In the rich lyrics of "Vi Nha ," the two lines: "This time I can't come home, it's because of life, Mom, please don't be angry / Love can be wrapped up, I've booked a private jet to ship it to your house," have been widely shared on social media.

The visuals in the music video "Vi Nha" were directed by Phuong Vu. The MV's storyline revolves around a family busily preparing for Tet (Lunar New Year), but lacking two members at the most crucial moment: one working as a firefighter and the other as a driver.

The female firefighter had to spend New Year's Eve with her colleagues after completing her duty at a fire station. Meanwhile, the young man celebrated New Year's Eve with his fellow drivers who were away from home.

Many viewers empathized after watching Den Vau's music video. Not only firefighters and drivers, but also people working in many other professions had to celebrate Tet (Lunar New Year) away from home. Below Den Vau's music video, viewers, including firefighters and drivers, left comments saying the song felt like it told their own stories. From this widespread response, "Vi Nha" (Home's Taste) created a relatable story, touching on emotions and setting itself apart from other products.

While still focusing on the theme of family reunion, the music video "Vi Nha" (The Taste of Home) breaks away from the clichéd storylines of most other Lunar New Year music videos. This year, many music videos still explore the story of a child unexpectedly returning home on New Year's Eve, but they no longer hold the same appeal for viewers.
