The Board of Directors of UEH has become the Board of Management of UEH.

On the morning of November 18th, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) held a ceremony to announce the Prime Minister 's decision to transform the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City into the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH). The decision had been signed by the Prime Minister on October 4th.

Also at the ceremony, the Ministry of Education and Training announced the decision to recognize the Council of the Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics, consisting of 23 members, with Professor Nguyen Dong Phong recognized as the Chairman of the University Council.

In addition, Professor Su Dinh Thanh has been recognized as the Director of the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH). UEH also has three Vice Directors: Dr. Bui Quang Hung, Associate Professor Nguyen Khac Quoc Bao, and Dr. Dinh Cong Khai.

'The university model is the appropriate model for implementing a multidisciplinary structure.'

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Hoang Minh Son highly appreciated the achievements that UEH has made in its 48-year journey of building and development.

Deputy Minister Hoang Minh Son stated: "The new journey with the new name, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics, also comes with new challenges. This institution still has much work to do to complete its multi-level university structure with a tight structure of modern governance." The Deputy Minister suggested that higher education institutions need to refine their long-term development strategies and orientations, realize an effective university governance model, and improve organizational and operational regulations… "The university model is a suitable model for implementing a multi-disciplinary structure," the Deputy Minister emphasized.

However, according to the Deputy Minister, changing a model or direction, from the initial selection to its full and effective operation, is a significant step. For a university operating under a new model, with an advanced governance model, this transformation needs to be carried out simultaneously and synchronously, and all the challenges that lie ahead must be fully considered.

The Deputy Minister of Education and Training suggested that UEH should continue to thoroughly understand and effectively implement the Party and State's guidelines and policies on education and training, focusing on the Resolution of the 13th National Congress of the Party. In addition, it needs to continue to strongly innovate its structure and organization to truly become a multidisciplinary, multi-field research-oriented university with sustainable development, meeting the requirements of quality education closely linked to practice. In particular, it should continue to innovate the curriculum, content, and teaching and learning methods, promote scientific research, and build the university into a high-quality multidisciplinary, multi-field scientific research center for the region and the world.

What model does UEH operate under?

UEH is a university developed into a "multidisciplinary, multi-field university," comprising three levels of governance: University level, College level, Branch level, and School/Institute level.
