Jiuzhaigou always attracts a large number of tourists, even though the road to get there is not easy.
As June arrived, the weather in Sichuan Province was no longer chilly, so we planned a trip to what was once the territory of Shu during the Three Kingdoms period. From the capital Chengdu, the only way to reach Jiuzhaigou is by road, as the electric train system is not yet complete. The nearly 500-kilometer journey was not easy, especially since the air became thinner at higher altitudes. Many in our group felt dizzy and had difficulty breathing; quite a few vomited due to motion sickness.
The distinctive blue color of Jiuzhaigou's waters helps visitors forget their fatigue after a long and arduous journey.
After more than 8 hours of traveling across towering, undulating mountains, Jiuzhaigou Valley finally appeared, and the breathtaking natural scenery dispelled the fatigue of visitors. Jiuzhaigou is a complex of lakes, rivers, and streams with a unique emerald green color. In early summer, the valley slopes are not covered with red or yellow leaves, but rather with lush green trees. Deserving of its title as a World Natural Heritage site, most visitors are captivated by the majestic and poetic natural landscape, with crystal-clear rivers where schools of fish can be seen swimming leisurely.
Jiuzhaigou is a complex of lakes, rivers, and streams with a very special emerald green color.
The Pearl Waterfall and Nuorilang Waterfall in the Jiuzhaigou complex became well-known when they were chosen as filming locations for the TV series Journey to the West (1986).
The majestic Pearl Waterfall is one of the six most beautiful waterfalls in China.
Despite its beautiful scenery, which justifies overcoming geographical and transportation obstacles, the biggest drawback of Jiuzhaigou is the lack of sanitation along the way. Ms. Huynh Kim Tien, a Vietnamese tourist who recently visited Jiuzhaigou, shared: "This area is mostly inhabited by Tibetan people, and the transportation infrastructure is not very developed. According to regulations, we have to stop every two hours, but the toilets at these stops are very dirty, smelly, and outdated. If you overlook these drawbacks, Jiuzhaigou is definitely worth exploring ."
