In Van Tuong commune, Ms. Nguyen Thi My Lien faced many difficulties upon returning to her hometown after serving her sentence. Through the support of the local government and police force, she was able to access preferential loans from the Social Policy Bank. With a loan of 100 million VND, she invested in raising cattle and pigs, and gradually stabilized her family's economy after two years.
According to the Binh Son branch of the Social Policy Bank, after three years of implementation, the unit has supported 42 loan applications, totaling over 4 billion VND. The funds have been disbursed promptly, and increased inspection and supervision have been implemented to ensure proper use and effectiveness.
Currently, nearly 100 people in Quang Ngai province who have completed their prison sentences have received loans, with a total outstanding balance of nearly 27 billion VND. Loan amounts range from 100-200 million VND, with preferential interest rates and no collateral required, creating favorable conditions for borrowers to develop their businesses. The close coordination between local authorities at both levels, the police force, and the Social Policy Bank has ensured that access to capital is quick and reaches the right recipients.
Credit policies for those who have completed their prison sentences are not simply about financial support, but also a "bridge" to help those who have made mistakes return to normal life. Because sometimes, just one timely opportunity is enough to turn a life in a more positive and humane direction.
