A pillar of support for escaping poverty.

Policy credit funds from the Song Cong Branch of the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies (VBSP) play a crucial role in achieving social security and sustainable poverty reduction goals in the area. Through preferential loan programs, this capital reaches poor and near-poor households and other policy beneficiaries in a timely manner, creating conditions for people to invest in production, create jobs, stabilize income, and gradually improve their lives.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh in Bach Quang ward takes care of her family's flock of chickens - an investment made from policy-based credit funds.

We visited the family of Mrs. Nguyen Thi Thanh in Ke residential area, Bach Quang ward, early one morning. Her husband has been seriously ill and bedridden for many years, leaving all the economic burden on the frail shoulders of this elderly woman.

It seemed as though poverty would continue to plague them, but hope emerged when Ms. Thanh gained access to preferential loans. With a 100 million VND loan from the Song Cong Social Policy Bank, she and her son boldly invested in buying breeding cows and expanding poultry farming. Thanks to their hard work and determination to overcome difficulties, by 2025, her family officially escaped the list of poor households and had a stable income from livestock farming.

Also in Bach Quang ward, the economic model of Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan, in Tan My 1 residential area, is a testament to the effort to rebuild one's life after setbacks. Returning to the locality after serving a prison sentence, he faced many difficulties in the reintegration process, the biggest obstacle being the lack of capital to invest in production and stabilize his livelihood.

At the most difficult time, policy-based credit for those who have completed their prison sentences gave Mr. Tuan an opportunity. With a loan of 100 million VND, he invested in building pig pens and raising chickens.

Thanks to his diligent efforts in learning techniques and effectively caring for his livestock, his economic model now provides a stable income, not only ensuring his own livelihood but also becoming an example of perseverance and self-improvement in the local area.

For policy credit funds to reach the right recipients, for the right purposes, and to be effective as in the cases above, the role of entrusted organizations and associations is of particular importance.

In Bach Quang ward, the Farmers' Association consistently stays close to the grassroots, effectively fulfilling its role as a bridge between banks and its members. Currently, the Association is managing over 20 billion VND in entrusted funds for more than 300 households to borrow capital.

Mr. Duong Ngo Quang, Vice Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Bach Quang Ward, affirmed that all loan funds were used for their intended purpose and yielded clear and effective results.

Giving people the "fishing rod" to help them rise up on their own is the guiding principle in implementing policy credit programs. In reality, capital from the Song Cong Branch of the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies has become a solid support, helping many households escape poverty and gradually improve their quality of life.

Currently, the total outstanding loan balance managed by the Song Cong Branch of the Vietnam Social Policy Bank is over 250 billion VND, with nearly 3,000 customers in 3 wards and 120 residential areas, through 114 savings and loan groups. The unit is implementing 11 policy credit programs.

Since 2024, 39 households have escaped poverty thanks to loans for job creation. Policy credit continues to make a significant contribution to achieving sustainable poverty reduction goals, building new rural areas and civilized urban areas in the region.
