Over the past 12 months, the number of Android spyware attacks has increased dramatically, threatening the personal data of millions of users. According to Malwarebytes, this type of malware increased by 147% in the first half of 2025 alone, while SMS-based spyware increased by a record 629% in April and May.
Hackers often use phishing messages to force users to install malicious apps or visit fake websites to take control of devices. Once infected, sensitive data such as passwords, credit cards, messages or GPS locations can be easily stolen.
Users can detect spyware-infected devices through signs such as rapid battery drain, overheating, unusual slowness, or data consumption. Experts recommend using reputable antivirus tools such as Avast, Avira, Bitdefender or Kaspersky to scan and remove malware. Alternatively, it can be removed manually by booting into safe mode, uninstalling suspicious apps, and disabling device administration before completely removing it.
To prevent this, users need to be careful when downloading applications, prioritize reputable developers, avoid clicking on strange SMS links, and always maintain anti-malware software. Dear readers, please watch more videos : Many scams from AI technology are on the rise | News 141
