Accordingly, the Food Safety Department received information about a suspected case of alcohol poisoning that occurred after eating and drinking alcohol at the Quang Tri snakehead fish noodle soup restaurant (address: 882 alley 880, 30/4 Street, Ward 11, Vung Tau City, Ba Ria Vung Tau Province), in which 6 people ate.
Currently, four patients are being treated at Vung Tau Hospital with symptoms including headache, dizziness, lightheadedness, and fatigue.
Given the situation, the Food Safety Department requests the Department of Health of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province to urgently direct hospitals to focus all resources on actively treating patients, ensuring their health and lives are not affected. If necessary, they can request professional consultation support from higher-level hospitals.
The Food Safety Department has requested the temporary suspension of operations at the establishment suspected of causing the poisoning. The Department of Health is coordinating with relevant agencies to trace the origin of the food and the alcoholic beverage suspected of causing the poisoning, and to detect and strictly handle any violations of food safety regulations (if any).
In addition, the Department of Health of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, in coordination with relevant agencies in the industry and trade sector, is strengthening inspections and supervision of food safety at alcohol production and trading establishments; focusing on small-scale alcohol production and trading establishments, especially those producing homemade alcohol.
Authorities promptly intercepted the production and distribution of unsafe, adulterated, and unlabeled alcoholic beverages of unknown origin, which could seriously affect consumers' health.
In addition, the units intensified propaganda and guidance for food service establishments and street food vendors to ensure hygiene and food safety conditions, strictly implement the management of food ingredient origins, three-step food inspection, food sample retention, and hygiene in all processing stages.
In particular, authorities are guiding people to raise their awareness and responsibility in ensuring safety in the production and sale of alcoholic beverages, to avoid alcohol abuse, and to ensure safety when choosing and consuming alcohol.
