Businesses suddenly 'hold' more than 7 billion VND in tax debt

On October 25, Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee said it had assigned Lam Dong Tax Department to consider the proposal of Lam Phan Company Limited (Ward 3, Da Lat City) regarding the implementation of the obligation to pay land rent to resolve according to the provisions of law and report to the Provincial People's Committee before November 5.

According to the document sent to Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee and the Provincial Tax Department, Lam Phan Company Limited (signed by Director Le Ich Phan) was permitted by Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee to implement the eco-resort project on Dang Thai Than Street (Ward 3, Da Lat City) according to Decision No. 915/QD-UBND dated April 26, 2005 and Decision No. 2749/QD-UBND (December 14, 2016) of the Provincial People's Committee to switch to one-time land lease payment.

Lam Phan Company Limited recommends Lam Dong province and the Tax Department to review the tax debt issue.

According to Lam Phan Company Limited, the company has completed the one-time land rental payment. On February 27, 2017, Da Lat City Tax Department issued Notice No. 888/TB-CCT informing that the company has fulfilled its financial obligations regarding the one-time land rental payment for the entire rental period. The company has invested and completed land procedures.

"But up to now, the Da Lat Tax Department unilaterally announced that the company still owes a one-time land rent payment of more than 7 billion VND. On October 5, 2023, the company received notice No. 5160/CTLDO-QLN from the Provincial Tax Department regarding the payment of tax arrears (land rent) of more than 7 billion VND and late payment of over 666 million VND," the document of Lam Phan Company Limited stated.

Therefore, Lam Phan Company Limited has sent a document to the Provincial People's Committee and the Lam Dong Tax Department requesting a review of the above tax payment obligation notice so that the company can confidently invest in business, production, and project construction on schedule.
